9/11 panel considers Rice subpoena
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4401034/

The federal panel reviewing the Sept. 11 attacks has scheduled interviews with former President Clinton and former Vice President Al Gore this month but is struggling to get similar cooperation from President Bush and other administration officials.

Members of the bipartisan commission said they were considering a subpoena to force the public testimony of national security adviser Condoleezza Rice, who has declined to appear at the panel’s two-day hearing later this month.

“The commission wants to go back in the court of public opinion and appeal to the administration for them to reconsider their first stand,” said commissioner Timothy Roemer, a former Democratic congressman from Indiana. “If we don’t get that kind of cooperation, compelling Dr. Rice to come before us is an option.”

The 10-member commission also requested private meetings with Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney about what the administration knew before the attacks, potentially a sensitive subject in an election year.

15. Right!! It's a bunch of bull crap about not being able to....
get them to testify. They are by law required to answer to the oversight of the legislative branch (which is the people) for their actions. They are public employees.

If they refuse...fire them!!! They are obstructing justice...a criminal act. They are involved in cover up...a criminal act. They are/have refused to submit documents, etc. needed for the investigation, a criminal act.

DA..it's against the law not to do all that is asked. "We the people" demand they do it!!

2. The issue is simply: are our elected and high-ranking appointed officials
accountable to the people or are they above the law, for there is no in between?

3. The commission is damaging its limited reputation
if it several times threatens issue a subpoena and finally agrees to a dubious compromise.

If past experience is a predictor, we will probably neither see a public testimony nor a subpoena. That is sad.

5. Remember Clinton's testimony, anyone?
Remember how his videotaped deposition was aired on national television and was picked apart by rabidly right pundits, who still like to give WJC a bunch of shit about what the meaning of "is" is? Over a sex scandal?

Yet these bastards on the commission are fooling around "considering" subpoenas. What's the holdup?

I want Shaky Condi on TV, darting eyes, trembling hands, quavering voice. She's not a very good liar. Her TV appearances have been disastrous.

Hell, why not Dick and George, too?

This isn't about "Did someone sleep with someone they aren't married to."

This IS about "Did someone knowingly allow the killing of over 3,000 innocent American Citizens."

with hand cuffs and leg irons for refusing to testify. Unlike Susan, they were involved, in the worst attack on our nation since WWII, and have a lot to tell us since it was their job to protect us, etc.

It's not about a failed land deal.

14. Look--Cheney got away with everything
the GAO backed down--Daschle backed down --Rice will alsot get away with it. Simply put--this arrogant bunch of criminals simply believe, and with good reasons, that if they forcefully tell the American people to go pound salt, and give us their royal finger, they can get away with more

And, cynic and skeptic that I am, I am sorry to say, that I think they will. It has three years of lies, lies and more lies, and arrogance as a way of life for them. It works. They will just continue that , knowing that the chances are good they will get away with whatever they want.

I doubt the Emporer and his Stooges would allow her on the stand.

Sounds like the Busheviks will be needin' to call on their old pal, the Right-Wing Anthrax Assassin.

There are some more people who ned a little Bushevik-style (for Amerikans...foreigners just get pushed out a window, and soon so will we too) "attitude adjustment".

25. Ever get the feeling
these people are afraid for their lives? Personally, I think they should haul her in and let the chips fall where they may. She's probably scared shitless that if she testifies and tells the truth she might have an 'unexpected' accident or follow in the footsteps of other victims with unexplained circumstances.

And another thing...Ever since Bush handed out the coordination of Iraq to her (which is another fine disaster), we don't hear a word from her.
