MBA graduates will vow to be more ethical
Source: NYT

When a new crop of future business leaders graduates from the Harvard Business School this week, many will take a new oath that says, in effect, greed is not good.

Nearly 20 percent of the graduating class has signed "The MBA Oath," a voluntary student-led pledge that the goal of a business manager is to "serve the greater good." It promises that the Harvard MBA graduates will act responsibly, ethically and refrain from advancing their "own narrow ambitions" at the expense of others.

"We want to stand up and recite something out loud with our class," said Teal Carlock, who has accepted a job at Genentech. "Fingers are now pointed at MBAs and we, as a class, have a real opportunity to come together and set a standard as business leaders."

They'll see the "light." Or at least, the signpost to hell.

26. "so mr. newly minted MBA. Here's out it works...
If you want to play nice you will get 35K a year to start. However, if you aspire to be a total money grubbing greed colossal prick, you start at 75K a year. The choice is yours".

12. HAHAHAHA!!! Ethical business school is an oxymoron.
Getting an MBA is all about learning to be a soulless monster that treats people like cogs in a machine to be used and thrown away. The Corporation is an evil and immoral institution that de-humanizes, turning people into "human resources".

18. Kind of reminds me how they get 5th graders . . ..
. .. to take an oath of abstainance from (insert vice here).

4-6 years later, how many of them still adhere to that oath?

Trying to correct hundreds of years of human wiring in terms of temptation and inherent greed is difficult to overcome.

Plus, as mentioned before, modern American corporations will support this "ethics" nonsense about the same time they stop treating their workers as useful pieces of dogshit. In other words, about the same time the earth crashes into the sun.

21. when I got my MBA ....
I felt like a fish out of water.

Early 90s, school on the west coast.

My fellow students worshiped Michael Milken, king of junk bonds, because he made SO MUCH MONEY.

Milken went to jail for his role in Drexel Burham junk bond scandal, and after jail and fines still was worth $1 billion. The jail and scandal thing didn't bother any of them.
