GOP Rep. rips 'reprehensible' video
Andie Coller Andie Coller 1 hr 16 mins ago

At least one Republican doesn't think it's OK to compare Nancy Pelosi to Pussy Galore.

After viewing an RNC video that juxtaposed the speaker with the James Bond villainess, Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) told POLITICO Saturday:

"I thought it was reprehensible, irresponsible and unpersuasive. If we're going to regain the credibility of the American people, we're going to have to stop with silly antics like that. It may get a snide chuckle inside the Beltway, but it offends most people. We have to get away from the politics of personal destruction," he said of the video.

The RNC declined repeatedly to explain the Pelosi/Galore connection, saying only that the video was about the speaker's "lack of leadership." Chaffetz is the only Republican thus far who has been willing to comment on the video.

"Policy and public comments are fair game, and there are creative ways to amplify it, but I despise it when Democrats and organizations like MoveOn.org use these types of tactics," Chaffetz said. "I would like our party to be more consistent in calling out inappropriate behavior like this. We've got to show some leadership and get serious about the issues at hand. It just bothers me that we have someone in the bowels of the organization on payroll working on stuff like this."

1. Jason Chaffetz is a douche.
His step-mother is Kitty Dukakis, if you can believe it. He was a kicker for the BYU football team and a Democrat in the 80s (worked for the Utah Dukakis campaign). Unfortunately, he's shifted so far to the right that he's pretty much become an embarrassment to the moderate voters here in Utah.

With that said, I'm glad he's standing up. I haven't seen the video, but Nancy Pelosi is NO Pussy Galore.

3. It was either Pussy Galore or
Plenty O'toole... named after her father, apparently.

two 1960's (ok, Diamonds Are Forever was 1971) sexist joke Bond girl character names. Best left to that era.

Of course, they weren't the only ones.

Octopussy (they wouldn't use that one now, since the Octomom).

Holly Goodhead

Xenia Onatopp

Christmas Jones ("I thought Christmas only comes once a year")

2. Thank you. No woman should have those ugly sexist comments
directed at her.

7. It's a direct attempt to marginalize her as a woman.

According to this politico article (http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0509/22882.html ), not even Newt Gingrich, Dick Cheney, and John Boehner have done that so far (as big of shit-heels as they are.)

When you lose the moral highground on an issue to those three, you're pretty fucked up.

8. Besides, Pussy Galore was a skilled pilot who turns FROM the dark side and does the right thing.
It's like the GOP doesn't even bother to watch the film 1st.

12. They're into symbols, not substance.
republicans are not interested in knowing what they are talking about before they speak. Or shout.

15. I would not place that unholy trinity of any moral high ground. They don't need to do certain

things because others in their party are doing them. One way or another, they do get done, though. And they certainly aren't stopping anyone, just keeping themselves above the fray.

Sure, if some talking head asks Newt if he approves of this, he may say no. But, has he tried to work behind the scenes to stop it? I doubt it. Has he spoken out against it of his own initiative? Not that I know of. Has any prominent Republican, male or female? Not that I know of.

10. Pelosi deserves whatever the GOP wants to do to her...
had she taken over the Speaker's job and immediately wacked the Repugnants as hard as possible, i.e., impeachment very much on the table and more, they would be afraid to go after her.

As things stand, she and Reid have both shown repeatedly that they can be attacked with impunity.

This is her bed, she arranged it and now has to live with her folly. Unfortunately, so do we.

16. bullshit. that kind of ugly sexism is no more excusable because
Pelosi didn't put impeachment on the table, than any racist crap would be excusable because Obama hasn't/isn't/doesn't prosecute bushco.

Twisted way of thinking you have there.

17. Pelosi may or may not deserve it. Women do not deserve it. The Pub message is that Nancy
is unfit for her job because she is female, not because she did not smack them down enough.

11. Pussy Galore turned out to be the hero of "Goldfinger".
Without her flipping, Goldfinger's plan would have worked, thousands of American soldiers would have died and Fort Knox would have been nuked. Just saying.

13. If we are comparing Apples and Oranges, then I like Ms. Linda Carter as Superwoman
Mr. Pelosi is no Superwoman! mS. pOLOSI likes viewing "terrorists" being water-boarded, and children sodomized at Abu Ghraib.

18. Linda Carter was Wonder Woman and that crap from Republicans has fallout for ALL
women, not only Pelosi. When Bush screwed up, no one said, "He's such a male." That's what calling Pelosi Pussy says.

19. The republican party doesn't care about women voters, either.
Women, minorities, pensioners...

Try harder, republican party! There's still some voters left to piss off!
