Former NFL player, ex-girlfriend charged in 1994 killing
Source: CNN

(CNN) -- A former professional football player and his ex-girlfriend have been charged in the killing of her wealthy boyfriend for money, a breakthrough in a cold case dating to 1994.

Eric Naposki and Nanette Packard McNeal face the possibility of life sentences over the shooting of Bill McLaughlin, according to the Orange County, California, district attorney.

Authorities said Packard McNeal persuaded her ex-boyfriend to kill McLaughlin so she could claim a $1 million life insurance policy, inherit $150,000 and get the right to live in his beach house for a year.

She gave Naposki a key to McLaughlin's house and information about when he would be home, officials said Wednesday.

Naposki shot the victim six times, then went to work at a nearby nightclub where he was a bouncer, according to authorities.

2. Irvin would never get caught.
:)

Why does he get so much flack? He had one arrest for drugs in a hotel room, and people act like he's Ray Caruth or Ray Lewis.

3. Irvin's trouble extends beyond the one arrest
Edited on Thu May-21-09 02:02 PM by Tempest
Physical assault, sexual assault, a second drug arrest and a third drug arrest.

He deserves all the flack that comes his way.

5. Not really. The sexual assault was proven a hoax, the physical assault was a media creation
his second drug arrest was dropped for lack of evidence, and his third arrest was for a Class C misdemeanor for "paraphenalia." (both of those arrests were after he retired).

He's not even in the top 100 of bad NFL guys.

7. I didn't realize there was a ranking

You can defend Irvin all you want, but he's still a scumbag.

9. He's a shockingly decent person, actually. Another victim of the ludicrous rumor-mongers
this nation calls journalists. They create villains out of popular figures (Irvin, Tom Cruise, whomever) so people won't be as focused on the actual bad guys, like Cheney or Bush.

But fall for what you want. Your life.

11. It's Cowboy hatred, Jobycom
As you said, there are many more who deserve more flack. And for all you haters, that's also "Hall of Famer" Michael Irvin. Get used to it.

12. I'm a Steelers fan and I agree.
I'm not a fan of Irvin but he seems to be a decent guy.

I did like him as an analyst.

13. As a matter of fact I am a great fan of Mr. Irvin
Do you know why he is called the Playmaker?

It is because he makes plays.

Go Canes!

8. amusing that the guy is IDed as a former pro player - he probably got more hits in as a bouncer
he played in 5 games in a 2-year career with 3 teams. :eyes:
