Republicans rally around Cheney as rumors swirl

VOTERS' GUIDE 2004:

WASHINGTON - President Bush and other Republicans are rallying around Vice President Dick Cheney as they seek to quash rumors that Bush might ultimately replace Cheney on his re-election ticket.

Some pundits believe that if Bush is struggling in the polls a few months from now as the 2004 campaign moves into high gear, he might boost his chances for re-election by picking a running mate other than Cheney.

Helping to spur an already active Washington rumor mill was the Feb. 14 cover story in the National Journal which depicted a stern-faced Cheney standing next Bush.

"Just the ticket?" queried the headline. "Does having Dick Cheney as his running mate help or hurt George W. Bush in 2004?"

He hurts the hell out of them. Halliburton. neocons, draftdodger. Money, money, money! It wouldn't seem right kicking Bush's ass without kicking his too.

3. I agree he is a weight
around the regimes neck, yet at the same time they can't get rid of him cause he's their "brains". I hope our nominee picks his VP right away and starts campaigning. The contrast between a vision of hope for our Country and the evil POS who ventures outta his hole every so often to snarl about death and terror while he grubs $$$ for our junta ought to be glaring.

12. Cheney is the President--- CHIMPANZEE McSHRUB is the Hand Puppet
What a pathetic Chimp performance regarding Greenspan's social security pronouncement.

The CHIMPANZEE was caught off guard and was clueless.

Its unfortunate that most of the sheep appear to be Dumber, stupider, more venal and more BIGOTED THAN HE IS:-(

4. YIKES!
The poor republicans are faced with trying to keep the puppet and at the same time knowing they may have to switch puppeteers in the middle of the act. Advantage democrats, no matter how the republicans try to play it! There is no way to justify anything about cheney.

6. Scooter Libby is likely the CIA leak, thus Cheney
will have to go.

When Novak wanted the dope on Wilson, stories were rampant that Wilson had been sent to Africa (yellow-cake uranimu) at the behest of the VP's office. Later we realized it was more complex than that, but those were the rumors when Novak was first on the story. So, where would Novak have gone first? To the VP's office which relaliated by outing Wilson's wife as a CIA agent.

If it wasn't Libby (a neo-con) it was another powerful member of Cheney's team or Cheney himself.

Thus, he'll drop himself from ticket. Probably citing "health reasons," will will be accurate since he's not had a heart for decades, if ever.

8. Another irony is that since they stopped releasing information
Edited on Thu Feb-26-04 08:55 AM by Timefortruth
about Cheney's bad ticker so that when the excuse that he is off the ticket due to poor health is used it will call attention to yet another area of absurd secrets in the WH.

Why when everything has bee perfect for three years is Cheney resigning due to poor health? These people don't understand that honesty can serve one well, but they assume the lie is always better than the truth..

although there is a chance he might want to "spend more time with his family"

s? how about the anthrax attacks? (oh, yeah.. those were only directed at democrats.. silly me).

yet, suddenly, in an election year they are going to claim he is NOW too sick to go on. I believe the idiot repukes will try it, but the american people won't believe it.

9. In 2000 Cheney was a major asset
People were reassured that despite W's lack of experience and intellect, Cheney would keep things under control. I had watched Cheney on TV during GW1. He was always calm, rational and seemingly reasonable. There was little hint to the depth of the evil that lives inside his soul.

Now here we are in 2004 and the world has seen a totally difference Dick Cheney than the one we saw in 2000. We now know about Halliburton, no-bid contracts, secret energy meetings that divided up Iraq for his buddies, numereous visits to the FBI, cooking and spinning the evidence for going to war, outing a CIA agent...

In 2004, Mr Cheney has become what is known as a major liability.

Bye-bye Dickie, hate to see ya go.

15. Dems should rally around him too!
I truly believe we should launch a major campaign to keep Cheney on the ticket. I believe he makes a nice liability this election. Halliburton, PNAC and Lesbian daughter in tow means bad things for Bush.

A "September Surprise" with a new more popular running mate could spell trouble. I agree that if he resigns he'll be "spending more time with his family due to health concerns."

Democrats for Cheney Unite! We need him on the ticket.

22. The GOP doth protest too much, methinks
I think it is a sign that he may indeed be dropped, it just can't look like he is being dropped. A lot of wingers REALLY like him. He will have to resign himself, but remain in an advisory position, outside of an official public office.

He will be replaced with a Republican Governor from a key electorial state (NY?).
