After G20, Obama to Discuss Afghan Plans With NATO.

STRASBOURG, France (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama, after helping broker a deal to tackle the global economic crisis, heads to France on Friday to try to secure NATO backing for a new strategy to turn the tide in Afghanistan.

On his first major foreign trip since taking office on January 20, he called Thursday's accord at the G20 summit in London a "turning point" for the world economy.

He will be hoping for a similar breakthrough on the worsening crisis in Afghanistan and looking to other NATO leaders for support at the military alliance's two-day summit being held on both the French and German sides of the Rhine.'

2. I know this is not popular to say here on DU
To leave Afghanistan right now in its current condition would be good for who? I think it easy to say leave but then what? I voted for President Obama because I feel he understands how important this matter is. At this point I am behind our President.

4. Sure we can leave...
The question is not whether we can leave, sure we can, it what do we do once we have left? President Obama and everyone else must think beyond just leaving...We left once the Soviet Union left and how did that work out? Do we leave and just forget Afghanistan exist? It seems this is what most who argue leaving are suggesting we do. What about Pakistan do we just ignore the fact that they have nukes and an unstable Afghanistan could lead to a failed Pakistan? There are serious questions to be looked at beyond just packing up and leaving.

There should be a healthy debate on this issue but just leaving and forgetting Afghanistan exist and Pakistan has nukes seems to me to be a strategy that is not well thought out.

Again, I voted for President Obama because I trust him and until he breaks that trust I will support him.

...we leave Afganistan. It's totally delusional thinking based on "The West is the source of all evil in the world and non-Westerners are all good, virtuous freedom fighters" nonsense thinking popular among Marxists and Neo-Naderites.
