Rumsfeld warns Iran, Syria about helping militants
BAGHDAD (AFP) - US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld warned Iran and Syria about militants crossing their borders into Iraq after meeting with the chief US overseer and his military commanders on plans to shift security responsibilities to Iraqis in the face of intensified attacks.

His daylong visit coincided with the deaths of seven police in a car bombing at a police station in Kirkuk, the latest in a surge of such attacks as the United States moves to restore sovereignty to Iraqis June 30.

"Syria and Iran have not been helpful to the people of Iraq", he told journalists during a visit to Baghdad. "Indeed they have been unhelpful.

"We know Iran has harbored Al-Qaeda, we know they had people moving across the border. They were certainly aware of that."

"We know Syria has been a hospitable place for escaping Iraqis" following the US-led invasion of Iraq last year, he said, after a visit to the Iraqi police academy in Baghdad.

3. Let's say you invade a country whose borders you can't secure...
in fact you can't secure the borders in your own country but that is not important here...so in order to secure these unsecurable borders you order the neighboring countries to secure them even though you can't......in fact you know they can't secure them (as you can't your own) so that will give you cause to attack them too.

Nice.

4. Second term invasion, or pre-election slaughter?
Which will it be? Certainly, the chickenhawk neo-cons will not pass up an opportunity to use young Americans as cannon fodder to advance their Dr. Strangelove insanity. It will be one or the other. Which one? Anyway, many will die.

I heard the retirement speech of President Washington on CSPAN2, today. They read it every year for his birthday.

I think, you can probably get it on CSPAN2 archieves later and hear it again later. I can't link to CSPAN2 today for some reason.

George said, we should respect other countries. We should not make them enemies but work toward peace. We should not favor one country over the other. We should not allow religion to control government. People of no religion can be just as moral as those who are. Etc.

The Senate listened but heard little.

6. Rumsfield must be planning to fight them himself; there are no
more soldiers. Isn't it ironic that Bush got out early even with a p..s-poor record during a major war, but he is making today's troops stay longer that their enlistment.

Guess what the american military has no clothes. We spent our best in Iraq and the troops are burned out. Everyone knows that-sure we can take on Iran and Syria if we just go into debt further-but thats the next generations problem according to the selfish gospel taught by these fools
