| Alaska Gov. Palin's daughter's, boyfriend break up |
 |
Edited on Wed Mar-11-09 09:33 PM by Javaman
Source: AP wire via The Huffington PostWASILLA, Alaska — Levi Johnston and Bristol Palin, the teenage daughter of Gov. Sarah Palin, have broken off their engagement, he said Wednesday, about 2 1/2 months after the couple had a baby. Johnston, 19, told The Associated Press that he and 18-year-old Bristol Palin mutually decided "a while ago" to end their relationship. He declined to elaborate as he stood outside his family's home in Wasilla, about 40 miles north of Anchorage. He also said some details of the breakup, rumors of which had been swirling on the Internet, were inaccurate. Bristol Palin said in a statement issued through a spokeswoman for her mother's political action committee that she was "devastated." In the last year she got pregnant while in high school, had her personal life scrutinized by the national media, seen her mother become a laughing stock, had a baby, and now she's broken up with her baby's father. It's a lot for anyone to go through, especially at her age.
Now maybe we can expect Sarah Palin's next publicity stunt: aerial hunting and field dressing of Levi Johnston.

It's not a big deal, and I don't really give a shit about either of them, but the way you have it now, it's saying that Bristol is "devastated" about the breakup, which is not what the article said. She was devastated about the Star report by Levi's sister saying Bristol was basically a bitch who wasn't letting Levi see his son.

| 148. Bristol Palin only has her mother to blame... |
 |
Part of Palin's entire platform (as well as that of the GOP as a whole) is the whole "family values" BS. I know not only what's best for my children, I know what's best for your children, and no amount of evidence from teachers, doctors, psychologists, sociologists, etc. is going to tell me otherwise on any issue. It's murder to abort a fetus, but isn't it so wonderful that my daughter Bristol chose to keep her baby? And that I chose to keep a Down baby?
Pointing out problems in Bristol's life is not a matter of reveling in this girl's pain, but merely highlighting the all-around incompetence and hypocrisy of her mother and her mother's beliefs. And since Palin still makes sure to pop up in the news every now and then (though she's been lying low recently, probably to let Jindal take the mantle of "GOP village idiot") and will surely be a candidate in 2012, her failures and hypocrisies here are still relevant.
Now, I don't think it's right to laugh at someone because his/her son was arrested on drugs charges, for example, even if the person is a political opponent, but if that person had just been telling me I was a bad parent for letting my son or daughter smoke pot, I wouldn't hesitate to hold up his crack-addicted son as proof of his lack of credibility on the matter (to put it nicely).

If you want to see "thread after thread trashing Al Gore, Jr." (aka the winner of the 2000 election) go to Freeperville. Second of all, is Al Gore a crazy anti-drug crusader? Sure, he's not pro-legalization AFAIK, but I don't see him going around telling people they're horrible for smoking pot (and he himself admitted smoking it, too). If Al Gore III bought a Hummer and went around clubbing baby seals, then maybe you'd have a point. "Why not?" I already told you! Bristol Palin is the result of Sarah Palin's parenting and her beliefs which she wants to inflict upon the rest of America. Her situation is relevant to Palin's (and her supporters') credibility on her own platform. Again, she's anti-choice--but lauds her daughter for "choosing" to keep the baby; she's pro-abstinence-only sex ed... yet her oldest daughter is an unwed teenage mother (you're insane if you don't think that's relevant). What's truly bullshit is that you think that parents shouldn't be held accountable for how their teenage children act or that their children's actions shouldn't reflect on the parent, especially when those parents want to legislate their supposed "family values." Now, there is one extraneous reason Bristol Palin specifically receives scorn: she's getting what her mom's political establishment gives to all other white AND non-white unwed teenage mothers in this country. Were she not their then-VP Candidate's daughter she'd just be another teenage whore who couldn't keep her legs together and who won't be marrying the baby daddy (who's probably some ne'r-do-well gangsta anyway; you know how "they" are) and if her name were, say, "Maria Lopez," the radio shows that Sarah Palin frequents would be pointing at this girl and saying "see, this will be the downfall of America!" But, no, she's Bristol Palin, so instead she's a sweet, intelligent girl who just made a bad decision. But she *chose* to keep the baby and the father will still be included in the child's life, so we should all be happy for her and applaud her maturity in this difficult time! Awwww.

...then their families will be off limits, too. That's the whole god-damned point. They exist to destroy families--whether because one or both parents are here illegally, or gay, or unmarried, or underage, or if the person doesn't even want to be a parent and has an abortion, etc., they never shy away from condemning those people as "what's wrong with America." But when it's one of their own, they put them on the stage at their national convention and give them a fucking standing ovation.

| 32. Report: Palin's Daughter Dumps Baby's Father |
 |
Source: CBSThe rumormill continues to churn around the Palin family in Wasilla, Alaska. Star Magazine is reporting Bristol Palin, daughter of former Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, has broken off her engagement to her baby's father, Levi Johnston. Citing quotes from Johnston's sister, Mercede, the Star's Web site reports the 18-year-old Bristol is estranged from the 19-year-old father of the couple's two-month-old son, Tripp. "Levi tries to visit Tripp every single day, but Bristol makes it nearly impossible," the Star quotes Mercede as saying. When news of the pregnancy arose on the campaign trail last year, Gov. Sarah Palin dismissed the issue as a case of "life happens" and urged the media to leave the matter as a family issue. However, Levi Johnston did appear at several campaign rallies during the run up to the November election. Read more: http://cbs4denver.com/entertainment/bristol.palin.birth...
Here's the original report from Star Magazine: http://www.starmagazine.com/bristol_palin_levi_split/ne... The teen love affair that rocked last year's presidential race is over.
Sarah Palin's daughter, Bristol, has ditched her baby daddy, Levi Johnston!
Now's Levi's sister, Mercede is telling all exclusively to Star and the picture she paints of life in Wasilla, Alaska is not a pretty one. Bristol, 18, has virtually cut Levi out of the life of their two-month-old son Tripp.
"Levi tries to visit Tripp every single day, but Bristol makes it nearly impossible. She tells him he can't take the baby to our house because she doesn't want him around 'white trash'!" Bristol won't even allow him to watch the baby for a few hours -- unless he's babysitting!

However, her life is in direct contravention to her mother's political ideology...which progressives have pointed out, ad nauseum, are unrealistic and overreaching for any political party.
In other words, you and your ilk tend to be the nastiest sort of hypocrites.

Where is the news here, that two teens aren't able to sustain a relationship? That a teen pregnancy and birth is stressful to both parents? That Palin's daughter makes life decisions on her own now?
Sheesh.

| 95. No, the news is in the fact that... |
 |
... a person with no qualifications who seeks to present herself as the heir apparent of the Republican throne based upon the solidity of her good old fashioned family values evidently has not been able to foster even within her own family the warm, fuzzy, Father Knows Best, conservative, Christian paradise she aspires to impose upon the country. No one cares about the daughter, whatshersname, but by making family values a pillar in her public life, Sarah Palin has made her family life a public matter, as it speaks to the credibility of her policy proposals. If she would care to withdraw her goal of restoring the good old days of feudalism, then her private life (and her family's) could remain private. Until then, the success of the model of family values she would have the country emulate in its policies is newsworthy.

It would also be somewhat relevant if she were running for some national office now, but she isn't and obsessing over her teen daughter at this point is just like watching a reality TV show -- it's done for entertainment.

Sarah Failin and her ilk lost a battle, but they have by no means conceded the war. She and her party are still doing everything in their power to undermine the success of a Democratic administration and advance their failed policies and she personally is still maneuvering to be the Republican presidential candidate in an electoral race I expect her to announce before so much as six months have elapsed in the current administration's term. So what's really changed?

Why should Republicans be allowed to prescribe what is best for all of us and then not follow it themselves and not be called on it? It is Republicans who insist that all families must consist of a straight married couple who goes to church, etc., and the obvious fact that it does not insure offspring turn out to follow the rules they were taught does much to undermine Republican claims about what works in society.

We are only getting one view of the story here. It might have more to do with Levi's Mom being involved with drugs. I hope for all those involved, the situation becomes balanced and sane.
Sarah was selfish to force these two young people into the spotlight. This was going to be difficult enough without a media feeding frenzy.. They all need assistance.

I think Bristol was smart enough to realize that she needed to run far away from this family. I mean really, would you want you baby to be in the care of someone who sold drugs? Now that the campaign is over, she can make some rational decisions about this relationship and say the sex was fun but now it's over and she needs to get on with her life and try to raise her child the best that she can, with or without a father.

that is the reason she doesn't want Levi to take the baby over to his house. I do agree that I would have the same reaction to a drug dealing Grandmother. I think it would likely change if Levi had his own place and they agree to what kind of exposure the baby has to Grandma (no solo visits, Levi must be there, no dealers, dealing or using while visiting the baby,) or no visitation at all because grand parenting is privilege not a right. It's a privilege one earns by character and behavior).
I think they can figure out what's best for the baby and align both their desires to keep him safe. This is something they both need to be on the same page about. The more people who are looking out for the little guy the better.

RRRRRRUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!
While Bristol does show uncharacteristically un-Palin flashes of intelligence (realizes abstinence-only education doesn't work, dumping your sorry ass), and you are a troglodyte with nothing going for you from the neck up, the further you're away from it all, the better your life will be, and if you stay in Alaska, I can guarantee that your former future mother-in-law can and will make your life hard.
So get out of the state. Get a job dealing blackjack in Vegas or something. You may never realize your dreams (whatever they may have been), but you can at least avoid one big nightmare.

If he wants to stay be involved with his son, I say he's doing the right thing. He and Bristol may hate each others' guts by now, for all I know, but if he wants to see his son regularly, then he's doing one thing right.

What's the difference between her being around white trash (her boyfriend) and the baby being around white trash? Why was it okay for her and not the baby?
Personally, I think Bristol and her family are all white trash.
