RNC gives verdict of first month: Disappointing
Source: CNN

(CNN) — It's the one-month anniversary of President Obama's swearing-in, and not surprisingly the Republican National Committee is out with its' verdict: It's been "disappointing."

"Obama's first month has been marked by wasteful spending, failed bipartisanship, and questionable ethics," the RNC said in a document circulated to reporters.

1. What kind of a story is this? Since when is the totally obvious headline news?
I don't remember anyone asking Democrats what they thought about Bush when he first got into office.

2. But they look upon Bush with fondness

"wasteful spending, failed bipartisanship, and questionable ethics"

Sounds like the Repugs are projecting their behavior.

Another reason why they'll be nothing more than a regional party for years to come.

17. So true
They are painfully transparent, accusing the Democrats of doing all the things they've been doing for eight years. Do they really think people have such poor memories? They've made it quite clear they will oppose anything just for the sake of being the opposition party.

What a pathetic party they've become.

27. Their target audience can't think, only listen and react...

Their message, i.e.: Rethuglican "talking points", will be repeated a few times on hate radio and faux news thereby gaining enough traction to be believed by dimwitted 'Merkins.

R. Limpballs will pontificate pointlessly while reinforcing the message, ad nauseam.

All of those among us who still have a functioning brain see the explicit hypocrisy and projection, but so what?

We are but a mere sliver, just irritating "liberals"!

Pretty much beneath contempt to the mindless, reactionary hoi polloi.

28. What is really pathetic is
they are appealing to a very small fraction of the public, instead of going to the middle where they would have a better chance of winning approval. They only play to the base and that isn't enough to win an election. What a sad bunch of idiots they have become. It wasn't always that way.

We have been gravely disappointed *in our inability to obstruct without making ourselves look like complete utter assholes* in this first month. We feel that the lack of bipartisinship *what? is that even a word? I'll have to ask Rush* bodes ill for the next four years. The stimulus bill is chocked full of wasteful spending *if it doesn't go to my rich buddies it's a waste damnit!* and this new administration has shown itself subject to questionable ethical considerations *as opposed to us for the last 8 years who proved we don't know what the word ethics meant!*.

note don't place the commentary in brackets... the board doesn't show them

My behind. They should be laughed out of town. As JFK said at his final new conference. when responding to "The Republincan National Committee has passed a resolution calling you a failure." he called back over his shoulder "I'm sure it passed unanimously.'.

How pathetic they are!

33. His press conferences were really " must see TV. " I'll never forget
when he was asked how he could possibly appoint Bobby as AG when he had never worked before. JFK answered

"He has to start somewheah," then quickly pointed to the next reporter.

I learned later that JFK had tried to buck Pappa Joe on appointing Bobby without creating a family war, but failed.

16. Remember when
the Republicans used to say, "The Democrats have no plan?" Yeah, right. Obama's done more in one month than they've done in the past eight years. And now the party of questionable ethics thinks they can express their "dissapointment" over and over and hope it sticks, a la Karl Rove. This country just elected a President with the middle name of Hussein, fer chrissakes, which goes to show you that even "middle" America and a many registered Republicans have gotten over the fear-mongering and want something other than what the Republicans have been offering.
So my question is, why is this even a headline?

20. "Disappointing?" not "Disastrous?" You know the Republicans wanted to
go with stronger, more dramatic language. But all they could muster up was "disappointing?" Coming from them, it's like saying, "Wow, this guy has been way better than we hoped. Dammit."

Of course the "failed bipartisanship" was them slapping away Obama's hand every time he reached out. The rest is just them complaining that Obama refuses to do exactly what Bush did. They still want to argue that Bush wasn't the worst president ever. And they're still trying to polish Bush's legacy by claiming "no one knew, no one could have known" whatever crisis Bush caused was going to happen, even though lots of people did know and accurately predicted it all.

Edited on Fri Feb-20-09 08:47 PM by Trajan
Funny how they think they can blame Obama for 'failed bipartisanship' ....

The President TRIED, and they refused to fucking budge .... and it's HIS fault ?

Bullfuckingshit ....

The GOP years in control of government were 'marked by' wasteful spending, unnecessary wars, outright theft of the nation's wealth and a simply stupendous level of malfeasance on every level of government, across the board ....

This isnt a matter of playing violins: It's a matter of grabbing them by the scruff of the neck and telling them "You're a fucking hypocrite, liar and a danger to the world" ....

Violins ? ..... Try trombones at 12 inches ....

EDIT: WTF does 42 72 61 69 6e 20 68 61 73 20 70 65 72 66 6f 72 6d 65 64 20 61 6e 20 69 6c 6c 65 67 61 6c 20 6f 70 65 72 61 74 69 6f 6e 20 61 6e 64 20 77 69 6c 6c 20 62 65 20 73 68 75 74 20 64 6f 77 6e 2e mean ?

http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/02/poll-shows-approval-of-obamadems-performance-on-economy-disapproval-of-gop.php

"wasteful spending"?

"• 52% of Americans approve of the stimulus bill, with 41% disapproving. And the public is confident by a 54%-45% margin that the plan will result in significant improvement."

"questionable ethics"?

"• Congress' approval is at only 31%-59%, but additional questions show a much more complicated picture. The number for Congressional Democrats is at 49%-45%, while Republicans are at 33%-59%. The Republicans appear to be cramping Congress' style."

"failed bipartisanship"?

"• Only 30% say Obama hasn't done enough to cooperate with Republicans in Congress -- the GOP base vote, basically -- while 62% say he's doing the right amount and 6% say it's been too much. Flipping it around, only 27% say Republicans have done enough to cooperate with Obama, with 64% saying not enough and 5% saying too much."

Remember the way the DNC was quoted monthly on what they thought of the Bushies?

I thought Obama meant that Old America was being restored, and maybe it can be, but I see little sign of it.

America remains an Inverted Totalitarianism, and the Bushies, in order to stave off the revolution that was coming if they'd stolen THIS election, released the steam and can now go into Clinton-Carter mode, especially the Bushie-Controlled M$M. Then in 8 years, probably 4, Emperor Jeb or Sarah (you DO realize they can still steal elections at will) comes back like they'd never left off.

Nothing has changed. Nothing.

I should have known. You can't beat Bushies or Nazis with elections. Which deosn;'t mean we should stop trying or give up.

Get ready for some more lessons out of the Bushie-Nazi Playbook, anyway. It seems as effective as it always has been, but for a brief period in post-WWII America now long LONG gone.

Somehow I also suspect, that in the Greater War which is going to follow the Greater Depression just beginning, it's America's turn to play the Nazis.

We have roughly 30,000,000 Stormtroopers-Knoxvile Shooters just ready and rarin' to go. The tiniest "permission from authority", and they will instantly become Brownshirts or Good Germans, according to their individual tastes and ruthlessness and how much they have to "pretend" to themselves.

I think in the next Great War, now in sight, though it may be a decade away (as WWII was from 1929), will have us playing the role of the Nazis.
