Cheney warns of new attacks
Source: Politico

Former Vice President Dick Cheney warned that there is a “high probability” that terrorists will attempt a catastrophic nuclear or biological attack in coming years, and said he fears the Obama administration’s policies will make it more likely the attempt will succeed.

In an interview Tuesday with Politico, Cheney unyieldingly defended the Bush administration’s support for the Guantanamo Bay prison and coercive interrogation of terrorism suspects.

And he asserted that President Obama will either backtrack on his stated intentions to end those policies or put the country at risk in ways more severe than most Americans — and, he charged, many members of Obama’s own team — understand.

“When we get people who are more concerned about reading the rights to an Al Qaeda terrorist than they are with protecting the United States against people who are absolutely committed to do anything they can to kill Americans, then I worry,” Cheney said.

Protecting the country’s security is “a tough, mean, dirty, nasty business,” he said. “These are evil people. And we’re not going to win this fight by turning the other cheek.”

protect us in the first place.

How convenient to overlook their failed leadership when we were being warned BEFORE Sept 11, 2001 that we were going to be attacked.

They remind us how well they protected us when they didn't protect us at all. Their response to their failed leadership was to set up gulags and military trials and torture. They only needed to heed the warnings from the system already in place.

By the way, WHERE is the anthrax killer, Dick??

Just like when Greenspan kept injecting his two cents. Your done. Speak when spoken to. Also, I wouldn't put it past the GOP to actually FUND some terrorists to actually create an attack. It is not outside thier ethical boundaries. If so, then we have to catch them. Then THEY are now the Terrorists and being a Republican will actually be illegal.

Cause unclear in death of Minot crew commander

Cause unclear in death of Minot crew commander
The Associated Press
Posted : Tuesday Feb 3, 2009 7:44:06 EST

MINOT, N.D. — Minot police say they have found no sign of a crime in the death of a Minot Air Force Base missile crew commander, but area waiting more test results.

The body of Capt. Jonathan Bayless was found late Friday in a field north of Minot. Police Lt. Dan Strandberg says authorities were called after a resident spotted something in the field near his home.

Police Capt. Al Hanson said an autopsy was performed Monday in Bismarck. He said authorities found nothing unusual but they are still awaiting a toxicology test, which could take up to two weeks.

Bayless is reported to have lived in the area near where his body was found.

He had been stationed at the Minot base since March 2005, and was a training chief with the 91st Operations Support Squadron.

Article at: http://airforcetimes.com/news/2009/02/ap_minot_commande...

"It is also worth noting that on August 27, 2007, just days before the "lost" nukes incident, three B-52 Bombers were performing special missions under the direct authorization of General Moseley, the Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force. <3> The exercise was reported as being an aerial information and image gathering mission. The base at Minot is also home of the 91st Space Wings, a unit under the command of Air Force Space Command (AFSPC).

According to official reports, the U.S. Air Force pilots did not know that they were carrying weapons of mass destruction (WMDs). Once in Louisiana, they also left the nuclear weapons unsecured on the runway for several hours. <4>

U.S. Air Force Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Plans, and Requirements, Major-General Richard Y. Newton III commented on the incident, saying there was an “unprecedented” series of procedural errors, which revealed “an erosion of adherence to weapons-handling standards” <5>

These statements are misleading. The lax security was not the result of procedural negligence within the U.S. Air Force, but rather the consequence of a deliberate tampering of these procedures."

40. Cheney: "tough, mean, dirty, nasty" and Un-Christian. He's speaking out AGAINST OUR PRESIDENT
when it was his policies that led to us being attacked in the first place.

Remember "a carpet of bombs"???

But, confronted with Taliban's refusal to accept U.S. conditions, ''this rationale of energy security changed into a military one'', the authors claim.

''At one moment during the negotiations, the U.S. representatives told the Taliban, 'either you accept our offer of a carpet of gold, or we bury you under a carpet of bombs','' Brisard said in an interview in Paris.

According to the book, the government of Bush began to negotiate with the Taliban immediately after coming into power in February. U.S. and Taliban diplomatic representatives met several times in Washington, Berlin and Islamabad.

The sad thing is that, eventually, if you wait long enough, there will be another attack and the fearmongers will claim they were right all along.

The scary part is that Dick is evil enough to make it happen just to claim victory (and score some sweet contracts for his pals in the bargain)

in open court.

This man deserves - and is apparently clamoring - to make his case. I say the new Attorney General should accommodate him.

Let him defend his past actions. Bring witnesses and evidence. Put it on the TeeVee.

In addition - create a new 9/11 commission and tell the whole story - under oath.

In the end I think he'll find the American people voted against fear and torture but hey...that's just me.

Shackles and four walls. That should be their legacy.
