WASILLA -- About 1,200 students at Wasilla High School are on lockdown because of a bomb threat found at the school, district officials said.

No signs of a bomb have been found, said school district spokeswoman Catherine Esary, who was reached by cell phone just before 11 a.m. at the school.

Specially trained dogs from Fort Richardson were in the process of going room by room through the school, she said. Esary said students are being kept in their classrooms.

Parents and guardians can pick up their child, she said. Buses have been placed on standby if an evacuation is needed, but Esary said at least for now that did not appear necessary.

3. When we had bomb threats at my school, it usually meant somebody wanted to get out of a test.

5. We never had a threat, just a bomb
Somebody threw a bomb in our school back in the late 70's. It was a kid with some real issues, bu fortunately it didn't explode. BTW, I grew up in a REALLY small town.

9. Maybe it's just me, but seems kinda stupid to lock the kids "in" the
school for a bomb threat while they check to see if there's actually a bomb.

I remember a kid from North Dakota who'd come to school in 20 degree temps wearing a light sweater.
