9. This was actually reported on CNN earlier today too...

The military told the family (I believe CNN said it was an extended family of 70 people)to gather together in one house for safety. Then they demolished the house the next morning. How sick is that? These poor people have no where to go. The places they were told were safe zones ended up being military targets. This is pure horror!!!

49. Eh, I dunno. Nazis didn't invent atrocities nor perfect them. The real question...
...is whether you read the article and strike a spark, and maybe an ember, which will uncomfortably burn inside you- always reminding you that there is a greater responsibility to know the evils of the world really exist (and thus be compelled to confront them) or be repelled and choose to ignore a reality which is frightening beyond belief which is:

You and I, the Palestinians and the Israelis, the Nazis, Pol Pot's death squads, Genghis Khan's galloping, scimitar-swinging hordes...or, say, the Andrew Sisters...all of us, we're all cut from the same human cloth capable of divine expressions of Love and utterly diabolic acts of hatred.

Some of us choose to know things which terrify us because those things are real and because, in some fashion, they must be addressed lest through our inaction we allow others to turn our entire planet into even more of a mechanized slaughter house than it already is.

This is usually where someone metaphorically spits on me for these beliefs. It used to bother me, but not any time recently.

2. WAR CRIME --
They said that after the Israeli army first took the town on Saturday night soldiers had ordered about 100 members of the clan to gather in a single house owned by Wael Samouni around dawn on Sunday.

At 6.35am on Monday the house was repeatedly shelled with appalling loss of civilian life.

18. I've given up on imagining what is being thought in these situations
They have some sort of 100 to 1 kill ratio that they implement the minute a single person is killed.

It's the most unproductive and anti-humanity policy I've ever seen or heard of.

if all deaths were revenged, then the human race would cease to exist. Israel is the super power - they could resolve this if they wanted to. It's not as if they haven't had any time to mull it over. :eyes:

It's inevitable - the Palestinians MUST have their own sovereignty - why are they allowing the slaughter to go on?

Why are we (the USA)?

It appears to be for political reasons internally - completely unforgivable.

4. Concerns had been growing
that Zeitoun had witnessed massive civilian casualties after surviving members of the Samouni clan reached Gaza City three days ago.

They said that after the Israeli army first took the town on Saturday night soldiers had ordered about 100 members of the clan to gather in a single house owned by Wael Samouni around dawn on Sunday.

At 6.35am on Monday the house was repeatedly shelled with appalling loss of civilian life.

A handful of survivors, some wounded, others carrying dead or dying infants, made it on foot to Gaza's main north-south road before they were given lifts to hospital. Three small children were buried in Gaza City that afternoon.

This endeavor will bear bad fruit.

5. It just shows Israeli efficiency in dealing with terrorists.
You can save a lot of ammunition if you herd the geezer terrorists, the toddler terrorists and all the other terrorists into a house before you blow it up, and then you can really increase the effectiveness of the operation by waiting for the medic terrorists to show up so you can shoot them.

According to the survivors between 60 and 70 family members had been killed by shrapnel and falling masonry.

Convoys of ambulances twice headed to the area to look for wounded but they were driven back by Israeli shooting.

Or maybe it was all a big mistake. Maybe the Israelis didn't mean to blow up that hous full of the terorists they had herded into it. And maybe they mistook the terrorist ambulances for--well--tanks or something.

15. This reminds me of what the U.S. military did in Fallujah -- and so many other places in Iraq
In Fallujah the U.S. military warned everyone to leave but then the U.S. military refused to allow males between 15 and 55 to leave because they were deemed "military aged males". Then the U.S. military proceeded to destroy the entire city with all the "military aged males" between 15 and 55 still in it.

39. This has to be investigated for a possible war crime
And if there are enough findings, then the proper follow up has to come

Sorry if I am not willing to jump into this and say warcrime ... knowing how this goes

And yes, it will take years

48. If you haven't figured it out or if not explored or proved yet - Israel, the U.S.,
Edited on Wed Jan-07-09 11:07 PM by higher class
the UK, Australia, Canada have a pact. You will not hear anyone from those countries speaking against Israel, in fact, they are blatantly supporting Israel. We're talking leader level - a pact. Whether drawn together for military profit or for extinction, they are all on a neo-con level. Regrettably, that includes Dems.

They are NOT DOING ANYTHING. It isn't enough to cry here, we need to inundate them with mail.

Ask yourself why they are so devoted to supporting Israel and blaming Hamas.

It is not only our leaders. Our leaders are one and the same with Cheney and Bush and also with the leaders of the UK, Canada, Australia which includes Israel in the group. These are the people behind ONE WORLD ORDER on behalf of the people who selected them to play the leader roles.

This is NOT JUST another Israel-Palestinian eye for an eye.

The next leap is to ask if this is leading up to an attack on Iran?

I'm not just being flip.

The people of this world cannot let this be done to them.

Don't just look at Israel - look at our own.

Inundate.
