Michelle Obama, Daughters Arrive in Washington
Source: Washington Post

Future first lady Michelle Obama and her two daughters slipped into Washington (Saturday) night, flying in from Chicago a day earlier than expected and checking into their new, temporary home at the posh Hay-Adams Hotel.

The departure allowed the family a little extra time to get situated before Malia and Sasha Obama begin classes Monday at their new school, Sidwell Friends School.

President-elect Barack Obama is scheduled to move today (Sunday) to the nation's capital from his home town of Chicago.

It was the start of classes after winter break at Sidwell that drove the Obamas' plans to arrive in D.C. weeks before inauguration and the family's official move into the White House. The family had requested to stay at Blair House, a guest house on Lafayette Park where presidents-elect normally stay ahead of their inauguration. But the White House declined, saying the building was already booked "by White House officials, the State Department and its Office of Protocol for various events."

So the Obamas instead made reservations to stay at the Hay-Adams, just off Lafayette Park....

1. Bush, totally an asshole to the end
Who would have expected anything else? He's consistent, that's for sure.

2. Why is the press
always making a big deal out of where the Obamas are staying? "Posh" hotel, "multi-million dollar" Hawaiian getaway, etc. WTF?

3. For the same reason they called the pig farm a "ranch'
and pretended Bush was actually working at "clearing brush." They're pushing an image. A non-wealthy man who brought himself up by his own bootstraps is NOT the image they want any Democrat to own. That was the one they pretended belonged to George (LOL!).

They want us to think "uppity." They want us to think "getting above themselves." They don't ever want us to think "one of us."

They want you to believe you can't ever have a beer with Obama because that man will order Merlot.

6. I'm glad....
that they came a day early...
It seems like it would be easier on the girls
to not sleep in a strange bed and wake up and go
to a strange school...in the same 24 hours.

9. They're probably scared shitless and miserable
Kids don't like disruptions of their habits. Living in a hotel (no matter how posh) while going to school is no fun, either. :(

10. I don't know about that
We moved a lot when I was a kid. I was always excited to start a new school.
