Economic talks bring Maliki to Tehran

Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki has arrived in Tehran for a visit that sparked rumors last year after being postponed to a later date.

Nuri al-Maliki was scheduled to visit Iran on December 25 for the fourth times in 2 years on his way back from a trip to neighboring Turkey.

Maneuvering on the delay, several Western and Arab media outlets reported that the trip was postponed because of a possible visit by US President-elect Barack Obama to Baghdad, or the uproar in the Iraqi parliament that followed the resignation of speaker Mahmoud al-Mashhadani.

Maliki's office, however, said the trip was put off till a later date because officials in the two neighboring countries had 'failed to agree on specific dates'.

Maliki was welcomed by a group of Iranian ministers at the airport...

me wonders what they really MUST be talkin' uh... 'bout...

the economy?? uh.... Riiiiight!
