Obama to meet Gore to discuss energy and climateUpdated at 1:30 AM
Source: Reuters

CHICAGO, Dec 8 (Reuters) - U.S. President-elect Barack Obama will meet Nobel Peace laureate and former presidential candidate Al Gore in Chicago on Tuesday to discuss energy and climate change, Obama's office said.

Gore, who won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for his work to combat rising temperatures and boost awareness of climate change, will meet with Obama and Vice President-elect Joe Biden to discuss how energy and climate policies "can stimulate the economy and create jobs," a statement from Obama's office said.

Obama is in the process of narrowing down picks for top energy and environmental Cabinet posts and has signaled that both will be major policy priorities for his administration.

Gore, the former Democratic vice president who lost the 2000 election to George W. Bush, has indicated he is not interested in a position of climate "czar."

1. Glad to hear this
We need Gore's input on these matters, and his name alone shows the world that Obama is serious about climate change.

5. WOW-- this is great. I was afraid that the environment would have
to take a back seat because of all the other issues, but it looks as though Barack's on it.

GO BARACK!!!

6. Obama needs to put Gore....
... in charge of energy and environment. Then we'll see some real change.

Turning Detroit into the world's biggest solar panel and wind turbine factory would be a good start. Let's redirect all of that engineering and production know-how towards a 21st century goal.

Shutting down the filthy coal industry could follow a few years later.

that were true but I feel Al Gore wouldn't do that.
