Source: CBS Marketwatch

(GM: 4.19, +0.08, +2.0%) will lay off about 2,000 more factory workers in early 2009 because of a continued decline in U.S. auto sales, the Associated Press reported Friday, citing a company spokesman. GM plans to lay off 890 workers at the Lordstown, Ohio, plant, cut 390 jobs at Orion Township, Mich. plant, and another 700 workers at Oshawa, Ontario factory in February, spokesman Chris Lee told the news agency. Cars produced at these plants include Chevrolet Cobalt, Chevrolet Malibu, Chevrolet Impala and Pontiac G5 and G6 models, the AP reported.
