Gift Certificates for an Abortion?
Source: World News' Daily Blog

Indiana's Planned Parenthood is offering a unique option this winter. $25-$100 gift certificates that can used for anything at the clinics from contraception to abortions. The Chicago Tribune reports today on the effort which is available in 35 clinics throughout the state. The CEO of the state's Planned Parenthood is quoted by the paper as saying the reception has been "pretty robust, and generally favorable" and that the vast majority of those visiting Planned Parenthood are coming for basic health issues, not an abortion. The move has set off anger. Here's an excerpt from the Chicago Tribune:

"PPIN's move has enraged various anti-abortion organizations—Indiana Right to Life and the Indiana Family Institute among them. Jim Sedlak, vice president of the American Life League and executive director of Stop Planned Parenthood, an anti-abortion group based in Stafford, Va., condemns the certificates as a continuation of Planned Parenthood's "annual attacks on the Christian community at Christmastime."

"We are talking about what can be done," Sedlak said. "Look, they (Planned Parenthood) could easily have said, 'these certificates are not to be used for abortions.' But they intentionally chose not to do that."

Those who criticize the gift certificates, said PPIN's Cockrum, are missing the forest for the trees. "We see 92,000 patients each year at Planned Parenthood of Indiana, and 5,000 of them opt for abortions," Cockrum said. "Ninety-five percent of what we do is provide basic health care."

And, oh, let's see, yeah, fuck the anti-choicers.

8. No! No sex with anti-choicers!
Maybe they need it, but who wants to fall on that grenade?!? It's probably better to leave them alone to practice abstinence, permanently!

10. You're too generous
Do not, for one minute, think that the anti-choicers would ever be good at fucking.

They would, in short, fuck up fucking.

No danger there of them procreating. They'd pass out from fear long before reaching any kind of satisfactory conclusion.

Oh, and welcome to DU, Deamonaquila!

"annual attacks on the Christian community at Christmastime."?????

LMAO

"Look, they (Planned Parenthood) could easily have said, 'these certificates are not to be used for abortions.' But they intentionally chose not to do that."

Whoa...Yes...it's all personal...women's health care is a personal attack on all Christians...and they intentionally don't limit their health care options just to offend you.

5. I would love to receive a gift certificate
for any kind of healthcare (self employed - no insurance)- pap smear, breast exam, whatever - only I'm too afraid to go to doctors anymore on the chance that anything they diagnose me with would disqualify me for health insurance I would then need in able to afford to be sick.

gg

9. It does seem a little weird, though
I don't have a problem with it, it just seems strange. It is good for the uninsured, if people want to give them a checkup for Christmas.

What kind of bothers me a bit about it is that I forsee men buying them for women they get pregnant. That way, they get out of their responsibilities that much easier.

Who cares why men do anything (with all due respect); giving women access to health care is the higher priority.
