BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Former U.S. presidential candidate John McCain made a surprise visit to Iraq on Monday and discussed with Vice President Tareq al-Hashemi the U.S. troop withdrawal agreement, according to a statement released from al-Hashemi’s office.

“Al-Hashemi received at his office in Baghdad Republican Senator John McCain and discussed with him issues if common interest and the security pact between the two sides,” said the statement received by Aswat al-Iraq.

The Iraqi parliament on Thursday had passed SOFA with a majority of 149 out of 198 members who attended the session.

Democrats, if you can't beat him in AZ, just keep him in the minority for the rest of his political career.

does a senator normally hop on a plane any time he feels like it and go consult with leaders of other countries and openly discuss security agreements?

It's okay for him to go visit the countries where our troops are stationed or are fighting. Bush probably sent him, he is still president for a couple of months.
