Bill Clinton to campaign for Jim Martin in Georgia
Source: CNN

Three weeks before Georgia’s December 2 Senate runoff vote, former President Bill Clinton – the last Democratic presidential candidate to carry the state – will stump for his party’s candidate Jim Martin, locked in a tight race with incumbent Republican Saxby Chambliss.

Clinton, who first visited the state for Martin last fall, will become the first high-profile Democrat to visit the state to campaign for the Senate challenger since Election Day.

The former president’s campaign event in Atlanta Wednesday will have an economic focus, according to Martin’s campaign.

Former Republican presidential nominee John McCain visited Georgia last week to campaign for Chambliss.

8. No but
there hasnt been anybody over there to make sure things are going correctly. Coleman deployed over 100 lawyers to oversee the recount process and Franken hasn't had that kind of help from the Dems

15. Thankfully the Minnesota SoS is interested in fair and honest elections.
Coleman can send all the lawyers he wants - it won't change the outcome as far as Mark Ritchie is concerned.

13. Sure we can..
Nominate a few liberal Republicans (Collins, Snowe) and have a Democrat replace them with a Democrat.

Done.

11. I don't know how to tell you this but Bill Clinton...
...ain't gonna make a tinker's-damn bit of difference in this. The only thing that'll tip the scales here would be a huge turnout from the black community and the last time they looked Jim Martin and Bill Clinton ain't Barack Obama. Yeah, Obama sent some of his organizers to Georgia last week to bolster Martin's campaign, but it'll be too little, too late. Obama and his team saw the hand-writing on the Georgia wall months ago and knew that trying to get this bunch of rightwing, selfish, bigoted perckerwoods to change from red to blue, or even purple, was a lost cause. Shoot, even the Blue Dog Democrats here are red - I mean when a BlueDog in Georgia says they're fiscally and socially conservative, that means they're selfish and bigoted, just like Republicans - simple as that.

And as for using the 'Get even for Max' strategy, that would mean those that put Chambliss in office in the first place would all-of-a-sudden get an attack of guilt...never happened. They were proud of their vote then and they haven't changed. This is Georgia, mister.

Anything the Democrats do that will generate publicity and keep the run-off in the news will help turnout.

16. I was a part of the Obama team in GA and we're geared back up for
Martin -- so yes, a big effort is being put out.

I am also not holding out huge hope due to the turn out issue, but on the other hand, many of the people who voted for Obama failed to vote the rest of the ticket here. It was a huge problem identified in early voting, and early voting held Obama in the lead here.

Even though the odds seem tough, I'm going to work hard for this one because Shambliss is such a true detriment to the Obama admin and the goals of any thinking human being.

Vets rights, the environment, animal rights -- in all of them Shambliss is an epic failure. And GA's environment should be on the radar around the country for a variety of reasons.
