Shreveport TimesCOVINGTON — Initial court hearings have been held for all eight suspects arrested in connection with the death of an Oklahoma woman who allegedly was killed after a disagreement at a Ku Klux Klan initiation.
Shane Foster, 20, and Frank Stafford, 21, went before a judge Friday. They and five other suspects, whose hearings were held Tuesday, are charged with obstruction of justice in the case. All five are being held on bonds of $500,000 each.
An eighth man, Raymond "Chuck" Foster, is being held without bond. The alleged leader of a Washington Parish KKK group is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Cynthia Lynch, 43, of Tulsa. Group: Murder suspect has long history with Klan
COVINGTON, Louisiana (CNN) -- The suspect in the shooting of a woman killed during a Ku Klux Klan initiation has at least a seven-year history of Klan activity, according to an organization that tracks hate groups nationwide.
Raymond "Chuck" Foster, 44, was the founding Imperial Wizard, or national leader, of the Southern White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, a Klan faction formed January 1, 2001, in Watson, Louisiana, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center.
"During the next three years, the group developed chapters in three other states while maintaining a low profile," the Montgomery, Alabama-based center said on its Web site.
By 2004, the Southern White Knights had chapters in Savannah, Georgia; Homosassa Springs, Florida; and Marion, Ohio. Its founding chapter relocated to Denham Springs, Louisiana. The group disbanded in early 2005, the center said ...

... Livingston Parish sheriff’s deputies said KKK activity in the Denham Springs area dried up after they arrested and booked Foster with forgery in 2001.
Chief Criminal Deputy Jason Ard said he hasn’t been aware of any further Klan activity in the parish since that time.
“We went in and dealt with them,” Ard said. “Once we got in there and put on the pressure, there were no problems after that.”
Stan Carpenter, the chief of detectives for the Sheriff’s Office, said he arrested Foster and another man on forgery warrants in July 2001 ...
