Didn't he play drums in the super band on the Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus? You know, the one with Lennon, Clapton, and Richards?

11. All the original Experience is gone...Jimi who that first night at the club, Bag O' Nails in London
Edited on Wed Nov-12-08 04:02 PM by GreenTea
where everyone had heard the rumors about the American born Hendrix (but no one had heard him play)....Jimi just made every guitar player in England want to cry, all were in attendance at the club that night in London 1967, Clapton, Beck, Townsend, all the Beatles & the Stones and every other top British musician were all there, all were absolutely & completely blown-away by Hendrix - and all knew, they weren't even close, to being in his league, nothing like him before or since. Listen to any musician who was there that night, they have all said the same thing.

Egos were shattered that night and as Keith Moon half-jokingly put it to a fellow musician entering the club...."It's all wet up in front by the stage, from all the guitarist' tears", (crying).

And homeboy's British musicians, Mitch Mitchell & Noel Redding (the Experience) were a part of making it happen that night (and afterward).

Man all of the good musicians are checking out. This sucks. Truly bad news indeed.

Mitch Mitchel was one of my all time favorites to listen to. He was one of the few rock drummers that could be in the same club as the jazz drummer Buddy Rich.

29. He played in a Hendrix tribute here in Seattle a last week (?)
I did hear the concert but the review said he looked "frail" and his playing wasn't but a flicker of its former self.
I am still amazed at what he played on those early Hendrix "albums." His playing was so much more advanced and intricate compared with any of the drummers at the time - including Keith Moon who by comparison was basically a basher.
