(CNN) Poll: Bush disapproval ratings reach new record (76%)Updated at 3:23 PM
Source: CNN

WASHINGTON (CNN) – As President-elect Obama visits the White House, a new national poll suggests that the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is the most unpopular president in the six decades since presidential approval ratings were first measured.

Seventy-six percent of those questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Monday disapprove of how George W. Bush is handling his job as President. That's an all-time high in CNN polling, or in Gallup polling dating back to World War II.

"No other president's disapproval rating has gone higher than 70 percent. Bush has managed to do that three times so far this year," says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. "That means that Bush is now more unpopular than Richard Nixon was when he resigned from office during Watergate with a 66 percent disapproval rating."

Prior to President Bush, the record holder for presidential disapproval was Harry Truman, with a 67 percent disapproval rating in January of 1952, his last full year in office.

his approval rating to get down to 13. I hope this two-term idiot sets a president that we can refer to in the future so this doesn't happen again.

8. The unchallenged precedents set by Bush will eventually destroy us.
Even if Obama chooses not to use the signing statements to violate the law at will, eventually someone will do it so egregiously that we either act or disappear as a nation.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Bush has given the presidency absolute power. We did not challenge that with the only method allowed us. The precedent stands.

We were fools.

1. Impeachment. Nothing in the Constitution prohibits this from being
done after Bush leaves office. It will strip him of his pension and,
IIRC, disqualify him from holding any office in the future.

2. Obama takes a pledge, the "Obama Doctrine" specifically identifying
the excesses of the Bush regime and renouncing those powers:

warrantless surveillance
lawless detention
torture
violation of Int'l treaties
the right to declare anybody he wants to as an enemy combatant,
the right to declare anything he wants a national emergency (EO 51)
signing statements...

what else?

i can only hope that OBAMA knows enough to ignore ANY advice from the most UNpopular guy in american politics.
what would bush POSSIBLY advise OBAMA on ? ?

1) don't eat salty snacks
2) try not to say heh heh heh to much
3) don't start a war you can't finish

AT LEAST WITH THE WHITE HOUSE, LET US HOPE BUSH HAS AN EXIT STRATEGY.... PACK YOUR BAGS.... CALL A TAXI.... LEAVE....

11. There must be fifty ways for Bush to leave the White House...
You just slip out the back, Dubya-Jack
Make a new plan, Dubya-Stan
You don't need to be coy, Dubya-Roy
Just get yourself free
Hop on the bus, Dubya-Gus
You don't need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Dubya-Lee
And set the U.S. free

(with apologies to Paul Simon)
