Well that didn't take long. Polls across America had been closed for less than 24 hours and Army Career Counselors were already exploiting Barack Obama's victory in an effort to recruit former soldiers back into units. This email was forwarded to me by an Iraq veteran and former Army captain who received it on Wednesday.

7. I'm a retired Naval officer and I would like to encourage my son to join.

But as long as the idiot-in-chief is in there, I'm not letting him go.

There have been so many sailors and airmen ordered into Iraq that I don't trust that my son will end up being nothing more than cannon fodder for bush's war.

I want to see what Obama does in Afghanistan before I recommend to him to join our military. It's just that the economy is so stinking bad. He can't find a decent job and he feels he's getting nowhere.

January 20th and Obama's Inauguration can't get here soon enough.

Bush weakened our armed forces. This hasn't been talked about enough. I wished Obama had hit McCain with this during the debates. Bush got so embarrassed by missing recruiting goals, he ordered the goals lowered. But the result is the same: not enough new recruits to replace the retirees. His lousy leadership discouraged enlistment. Look for enlistments to increase under Obama.
