(Gallup) Final Presidential Estimate: Obama 55%, McCain 44%
Edited on Sun Nov-02-08 11:59 PM by Mark E. Smith
Source: Gallup

PRINCETON, NJ -- The final Gallup 2008 pre-election poll -- based on Oct. 31 - Nov. 2 Gallup Poll
Daily tracking -- shows Barack Obama with a 53% to 42% advantage over John McCain among likely
voters. When undecided voters are allocated proportionately to the two candidates to better
approximate the actual vote, the estimate becomes 55% for Obama to 44% for McCain.

The trend data clearly show Obama ending the campaign with an upward movement in support, with
eight to 11 percentage point leads among likely voters in Gallup's last four reports of data extending
back to Oct. 28. Obama's final leads among both registered voters and likely voters are the largest
of the campaign.

23. WE MUST DO BETTER! - MANY WILL SWING AGAINST CHANGE OUT OF FEAR - GET THE VOTE OUT!!!

This is not about Obama - this is about change vs. no change. Many, many people fear change. It is irrational but true. Many will vote on this fear.

Use every means, media, social networking : Obama is good for America. Get out the Vote!

2. Remember
They had Bush up by 2 In 2004 In their final 2004 poll.Word of caution on the final popular vote.They
had Clinton up larger In both 1992 and 1996 then he actully got.Still Like Clinton Obama will likely
get an electoral landslide,and Obama doesn't have someone like Perot to deal with.

12. That's not what the McLaughlin Group says!
I was watching part of the Sunday show and they ended with their usual predictions, of course that Neo-Con witch Crowely (where do the Reich get all these blond bimbos) predicted a .5 point win for McCain. Eleanor Clift, the most liberal, gave Obama a win but only by a few, while all the others, including John McLaughlin said it was too close to call. WTF?

I was having a heart attack thinking the race had squeezed tight again until this. I can breathe again.

Their main argument was that the youth simply will not be bothered to vote. If you, or your kids, can help with getting these young voters out on Tuesday, please do it.

17. Majority of Republicans Still voting for McCain?
<snip>
Obama was able to match McCain in maintaining party loyalty toward his candidacy: 91% of Democrats say they will vote for Obama, the same as the 91% of Republicans voting for McCain. But Obama's 90%-plus loyalty has a far greater payoff than McCain's, given the significant Democratic advantage in party identification -- evident not only in this final poll, but throughout the year. In the final poll, 38% of U.S. adults identified as Democrats, 34% as independents and 26% as Republicans. Among likely voters, the figures are 39%, 31% and 29%, respectively.

Thus, given the Republican deficit in party identification, McCain would have needed a big boost from independent voters in order to prevail. The two presidential nominees -- both of whom owe their primary victories earlier this year to solid support from independents -- waged a fierce battle for the independent vote, but in the final poll independents preferred Obama to McCain by 48% to 43%.
<end snip>

91% loyalty from Republicans WTF? who are these people?

19. Unfortunately
one of them is my dad. I felt sort of bad yesterday fighting with a 75 year old man. It's just that this will probably be his last national election, and some of the stuff he said isn't how I want to remember him: bitter, cranky, racist, delusional.

My mother was sighing, as she lamented how her vote didn't really count-it just canceled his out.

27. This election is about hope vs. despair
the future vs. the past, percolate-up vs. trickle-down economics, freedom vs. imprisonment, and democracy vs. dictatorship.

If you are so afraid of your fellow human beings (your real brothers and sisters) as to hate anyone who looks a bit different from you; so afraid for your sense of security that you're willing to forfeit your American birthright to live free to speak your mind and live free from arbitrary imprisonment; and so afraid of a terrorist attack which is more unlikely than either a lightning strike or winning the lottery jackpot; then McCain is your man, a vote for despair.

If, despite the bleak economic outlook which apppears to threaten the American way of life; despite the rising unemployment rate; despite the thieves in power who are pulling out all the stops to prevent any change for the better; we continue to believe a better future is imminent, then Barack Obama is our man, a vote for hope.

Hope and change for the better or despair or the Three Degrees--B.S (bullshit), M.S (more of the same), and Ph.D (piled higher and deeper)? You decide tomorrow.
