Cheney aide to be deposed in lawsuit over recordsUpdated at 3:23 PM

31 Oct 2008 // WASHINGTON (AP) — A group suing Dick Cheney to preserve a wide range of records from his time as vice president can depose one of his top aides, federal courts ruled Friday.

U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly ordered Claire O'Donnell, the vice president's deputy chief of staff, to make herself available to lawyers from a private group, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, known as CREW.

CREW is suing Cheney and the Executive Office of the President in an effort to ensure that no presidential records are destroyed or handled in a way that makes them unavailable to the public.

The group had wanted to depose Cheney's chief of staff, David Addington, but a three-judge panel at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia said deposing Addington "would constitute an 'unwarranted impairment' of the functioning of" the vice president's office.

1. "unwarranted impairment"...that's right, they've got a lot of regs to push through...
and so little time left to rape what's left of the environment. Wouldn't want to hamper that, eh?

2. We owe Judge Coleen Kollar-Kotelly.
Thankfully the other judges didn't throw out her order.

3. I want the best litigator in the world to cross-examine Addington
That's what I want.

I want his feet held to the fire; and I want answers to each and every word he has changed, added, tweaked in each and every policy, procedure and code that has been manipulated, loopholed and hidden away for the benefit of another future and possibly corrupt neo-con. Changes that could be dusted off and used in their battle to render impotent the separation of powers, and rule of law as we have employed and enjoyed in our history.

I have an intense distrust of this man, and his boss, Cheney.
