McCain campaign slams Obama N.H. endorsement
Source: AP

~snip~

Fred Bramante, a delegate to last summer's national GOP convention, endorsed Obama on Thursday. The former chairman and current member of the state Board of Education said he opposes McCain's support of school vouchers, which would give parents taxpayer money to offset the cost of private schooling.

McCain's campaign says allowing parents to choose their kids' schools and a commitment to excellence are the heart of his education plan. It says Obama is more aligned with teacher unions than students. And the campaign said Bramante is driven by opportunism and ego instead of determination and loyalty.

In a nut-shell.

That, pretty much, tells it all.

Is that the best McShameful has?

I'm no good, but you must remain loyal?

Otherwise you must have an "ego" problem?

Isn't selecting the best candidate all about who would do the best job? Yes, in that case it IS about my ego. I want the best person I can find to lead this country for me. For all of us. Damn right my ego is involved.

3. Bleed the public schools dry!
Fabulous commitment to excellence in education there Johnny. You could at least be honest in your intentions. Bramante might or might not be an opportunist, although what opportunity he obtains from this move remains unclear, seeing as how he remains a Republican, but his stated reasons, especially in our state where we have an ongoing crisis over public education funding, are correct. Voucher systems would be devastating.

6. That's right.
If people want to send their kids to expensive private schools they should do without asking for a government handout.

8. To be fair, vouchers are a recognition that even parents
who send their kids to private schools still support public schools with tax dollars.

And no, I'm no defender of vouchers. I teach in a public school. The real argument against vouchers here is that McCain thinks we should defund the schools because some people aren't happy with the results of the public system. SO JOHN, what about the military? I'm not happy with many of the things they do, but can I then get a voucher and send it to a UN relief organization or some other NGO? To support the idea of vouchers is really to say, "I want my kids in a religious school with tax payer money." I think one of our amendments prohibits that.

17. NH runs its schools from property taxes. No state income tax. If they want
to improve schools the money has to come from increased property taxes.

I know mcLiar is not suggesting giving federal tax dollars to states to improve schools - that's socialism.
