Obama poised to win state by wide margin
Source: Mercury News

Barack Obama is poised to win California by the largest margin of any president since Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1936, a new Field Poll released today finds.

The Democratic presidential candidate leads Republican rival John McCain by 22 percentage points among likely voters in California. If that margin holds Tuesday, he would set a post-World War II record for a presidential victor in the state. Not even landslide victories in 1980 and 1984 by Ronald Reagan, a former California governor, came close.

"The size of the margin is historically significant. We're in a time when the public very much believes the country is headed in the wrong direction,'' said Field Poll Director Mark DiCamillo. "It's a year that is tailor-made for an opposition candidate, a change election year.''

Such a wide margin of victory, coupled by a turnout expected to match a three-decade high, will certainly impact other closely contested races, DiCamillo said. The poll found that 22 percent of California voters have already cast ballots either by mail or at early-voting stations. As many as 47 percent are expected to vote before Election Day.

5. votes don't count
i called the san bernardo county sectary of state today, to find out how i can tell if MY mail in vote was counted. the so called woman on the other line bitched me out and assured me my vote will be counted. when i pressed her i found out that there is no way i can find out if my vote was counted. when i pointed out the republican fraud in florida and ohio, she tole me to " not listen to that ". well i do listen to what is going on around me, and i am now convinced my vote will NOT be counted. this country would be much better off without republicans.
hawk
i just want my vote, and everyones for that matter to be counted too bad the republicans don't feel the same way

REGISTRAR OF VOTERS (ROV) for the counties. Secretary of STATE is titled that for the obvious reason.

The count for VBM ballots are NOT released until after the polls close on Tuesday. It is why, as soon as the polls close, there is a vote tally - those are the VBM ballots.

You can only find out the status of your ballot if you vote provisionally. After a provisional ballot is cast, the voter receives a card w/ the ballot number and a phone number(ROV office NOT SoS) on it. You call that phone number, give them your ballot number and you can learn the status of your vote.

BTW, IF you live in Big Bear, then you live in San Bernardino county. There is NO san bernardo county in California

6. Short Bus Express to Joe the Bummer! Come in! Come in! Are you there?
Please excuse me. I've been up all night. I just can't take much more of this suspense.

But WIDE margins will satisfy my thirst for an educated nation.

14. This kind of thing is coming to a state near you (if it hasn't already)
California heralds the future and has been trending away from Republicans over 20 years now. To ensure that, the Republicans have decided to become ever more conservative and white in response, thus hastening their demise in this state. Republicans may fall below 1/3 of the state legislature after this election is through.

The Republicans have managed to alienate and lose a majority of every ethnic group except whites, and among whites, they are nearly losing the majority of them as well (and working hard to do just that!).

Welcome to the future.
