Iraq denounces U.S. raid on Syria
Source: REUTERS

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraq's government denounced on Tuesday a U.S. air strike on the Syrian border, but also called for a halt to what it said was insurgent activity in Syria.

"The Iraqi government rejects U.S. aircraft bombarding posts inside Syria," spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh said in the first official Iraqi criticism of the raid.

Syria has said U.S. helicopters struck a border village on Sunday night, killing eight people. Washington has refused to confirm the raid, which Iraq said targeted staging grounds used by militants.

Iraq "reiterates its demand to halt all activities of organizations that are using Syria as a staging ground to arm and train terrorists that are targeting Iraq," Dabbagh said.

I call it an "invasion of a sovereign nation" and not a "raid" merely.

In light of the election timing, I also consider this invasion "politicization" of military forces,
albeit a minor one compared to invading Iraq to win political control of US politics.

1. OMG - did I just read that the reason we went into Syria was to

I think we've been here before.

And on and on the dominoes fall. So... seems we're headed for a 100-year type of dealie including Iraq, Iran, Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan. So far.

The United States does not belong in the middle east. Period.

The proper word for it is "imperialism". Period.

This policy is bad for the USA ( i.e. the citizens who will pay and die for its implementation) and for the denizens of those countries who will continue to struggle AGAINST imperialism, no matter what the human cost to them CAUSE THAT'S WHAT COLONIAL PEOPLE DO!! THEY TRY TO RID THEIR COUNTRIES OF FOREIGNERS .

4. Timing of the raid was ill judged anyway
given that one of the main reasons the Iraqis won't sign the agreement is the use of Irag by the USA to carry out raids and invasions on adjaccent sovereign nations.

6. It is as if they are doing this so they will not sign the SOFA
IMO they should never sign, no matter how warm and fuzzily it is written.
