Diplomats keen for an Obama victory
Source: The Sydney Morning Herald

Colum Lynch at the United Nations
October 28, 2008

THERE are no "Obama 2008" buttons, banners or T-shirts visible here at UN headquarters, but it might be difficult to find a sliver of territory in the United States more enthusiastic over the prospect of the Illinois senator winning the White House.

An informal survey of more than two dozen UN staff members and foreign delegates showed that the overwhelming majority would prefer that Senator Barack Obama wins the presidency, saying they think that the Democrat would usher in a new agenda of multilateralism after an era marked by Republican disdain for the world body.

One American employee seemed puzzled that he was being asked whether Senator John McCain was even a consideration. "Obama was and is unstoppable," the official said. "Please, God, let him win."

I foresee instant better relations with all of Latin America, less tensions in Asia, and a chance to deescalate the arms race.

3. Get ready for the
"weak America" mantra. The gops are already pushing it. These people have got to be shot down.

That's a metaphor Agent Mike. Really, it is.

8. I am hoping Obama will promote strengthening the UN.
I am very impressed with his commitment to building multinational coalitions to deal with the challenges of the 21st century. Obama's "future-oriented" foreign policy mindset of interconnectedness and strategic leadership are very exciting !!!!
They leave McSame/Palin back in the 1950s. I shake my head when I hear McSame and Palin talk about Obama's naivete of not having preconditions...they have no idea how sophisticated and forward thinking Obama's foreign policy is. McSame and Palin are locked in the past, and they do not even know it.

10. The NeoCons really don't know the meaning of diplomacy.
Diplomacy is based on the recognition that all people are created equal. That they are endowed...

You know, all that FOUNDING FATHERS STUFF.
