Poll of Polls: Stark news for McCain in battleground states
Source: CNN

With nine days left, a series of new battleground polls have some stark news for Sen. John McCain.

Georgia is shaping up to be a battlground state this election cycle, according to CNN's first poll of polls in the southern state.

The average of three surveys shows Sen. John McCain leading Sen. Obama by 6 points, 50 percent to 44 percent.

"McCain's six-point lead in Georgia is an extremely thin silver lining on an increasingly dark cloud for the GOP," said CNN Senior Political Researcher Alan Silverleib. "Bush carried Georgia by 17 points four years ago. The Democratic upswing in Georgia mirrors the trend in most other states across the country. It is extremely hard to see McCain coming close to 270 electoral votes on Election Night if the current poll numbers — both on the national and state level — hold for the next nine days."

The Georgia poll of polls consists of three surveys: NBC/Mason-Dixon poll conducted October 22 and 23, a Research 2000 poll conducted October 14 and 15, and a CNN/Time/Opinion Research Corporation poll conducted October 11 through 14. ...

Hell freezes over. The only state more pro-McLame at this point is Utah.

UGH.

6. The fat lady is warming up ...

Singing will begin soon.

The issue at this point are the close senate races. The Republicans whole point at this juncture is making sure that the Democrats do not reach 60 votes in the Senate.

10. So far, so good
With more than a week to go, our early voter turnout has already topped the entire early voter turnout from 2006 -- and that was a record-breaker. The entire early turnout in 2006 was on the order of 1.2 million. We've already topped 1.5 million. Democrats are out-voting repubs at a little bit better than two-to-one according to the stats I've seen so far.

No-one knows what Election Day itself will bring, but something is making me doubt that the pigs can make it up now. There are half again as many registered Dems as there are registered Repubs. Here's what the SBOE has to say:

Voter Registration as of 10/26/2008 Democratic: 2,837,178 Republican: 1,990,049 Libertarian: 3,165 Unaffiliated: 1,382,875

Stats I saw last week (which are probably stale now) have the unaffiliated/independents breaking for Obama. Again MMV by Election Day, but I'm holding a glimmer of hope for NC. In other good NC news, Dole and Hayes are also in the "likely gone" category. If you're in NC, make sure that everyone you know who can and will vote Blue does!

18. We're doin' our part
and sending you a  to wherever you may be. The skies are blue and autumn's putting on her show. I'm glad I finally came home to see it all.

Sending Biddy Dole back to Kansas on the broom she rode in on would be just the icing on the cake :)

13. i'm in NC
and i do believe that obama will win this state. as i stood in line to vote on thursday a state candidate Chris Mintz was politicking and i asked him if NC will go blue, and he said he thinks it will. he wasn't as hopeful about the state and local races. but for the presidency, it's looking very good for obama.

14. I have only one question with these polls
Was Bob Barr including in the choices for president? I can't seem to find out! If he wasn't included than this poll could be WAY off in Georgia. Just curious and it seems they're not saying.
