Enemies won't test me, McCain saysUpdated at 3:23 PM
Source: CNN

MANCHESTER, New Hampshire (CNN) -- Sen. Barack Obama's foreign policy positions could encourage America's enemies to test it during the early days of an Obama administration, Sen. John McCain said Wednesday.

"And the thing that probably may encourage them a little is that Sen. Obama has been wrong," McCain said in an interview aired on CNN's "The Situation Room" on Wednesday.

"He was wrong about the surge in Iraq. He still fails to acknowledge that he was wrong. I mean, remarkable," the Republican presidential nominee continued.

"He was wrong when he said Georgia should show restraint. He was wrong when he said he would sit down across the table from Ahmadinejad, Chavez and the Castro brothers. He was wrong about those. So I can understand why the American people might be concerned."

Enemies would not similarly challenge McCain, he said, because he's already been tried.

"They know I've been tested," he said. "They know I've been tested. I've been tested many times."

11. Disconnect:
Does he really think ALL enemies are the same? Communist jailers tested him once - what does that have to do with Islamist terrorists? Russian nationalists?

Was he ever tested in a situation where he could direct military retaliation? Where he could take ANY direct action at all? He was never a leader in the military - he flew a plane and took orders. In the senate he was one voice in a hundred. Fer gawds sake, Sarah Palin has had more executive experience than he has.

And BTW, the surge did NOT work. What worked was ethnic cleansing. The only reason the level of violence decreased was because the enclaves stabilized after 2 million Iraqis were relocated internally and another 2 million fled the country. Obama cannot, however, publicly dispute his claim that the surge worked because once he is president he is going to have to deal with the Iraqi leadership (who know the truth of it) and cannot afford to preemptively alienate any faction by telling the truth about them. Therefore, he won't "admit" the surge worked, but neither will he spell out what actually happened. Once our forces are out of there, then he will be able to speak his mind. It's called "diplomacy".

They know they can provoke him into doing more shit to piss off the majority of the world, further eroding our nations standing. They fear Obama because they know that not only will he respond fairly but he'll do so with the rest of the world behind him, and even many parts of the Arab world will respect him a hell of a lot more than McCain BECAUSE his father was muslim, and he respects the religion.

The last thing Al Qaeda wants is an Obama presidency.

23. He's been tested alright. And he's failed.
John McCain is right he was tested. He was tested in the Naval Academy and graduated 894th out of 899. He was tested again when he was put in an airplane he responded by crashing. He was tested as other POW's were and he broke when others didn't. He was tested when he came home and his beauty queen wife wasn't the same woman and he left her for a younger, richer, more beautiful woman. He was tested when he was approached by Charles Keating and fellow congressmen and he chose corruption over honor. More recently he was tested along with other Americans on 911 and he chose to publicly blame the wrong party and advocate for the wrong war. He was tested with our current economic crisis and responded with the fundamentals of our economy our strong. He was tested with dropping poll numbers and chose a dishonorable campaign.

McCain has failed every test and he wants us to trust him with our safety?

25. Surge, Baby, Surge!
The Surge is tactical in nature, something that really should be below the radar screen of the president. Wasn't one of Vietnam's problems the micro-managing of the war by McNamara, etc?

And the idea that enemies won't test McCain is total bullshit. It really is "Bring 'em on" part two.

You don't say that out loud.

38. World events don't happen in a predictable, straight-line trajectories
there are all sorts of complex events which can't be predicted and won't be predicted. Whether or not someone will be tested by unpredictable events is impossible to answer.

If he's saying he so de-sensitized to atrocities and mass-murder, that he wouldn't have any reaction to being "tested", then we most certainly will have some kind of Raygun-clone of a automaton in office.

Whether or not this is a desirable feature in a US President, I would be more concerned about his life expectancy from simple old age and natural causes, and the fact that we wouldn't be able to predict what kind of forces would take over in his absence, at it would be conceivable that they would use VP Palin as their puppet.

Just as frightening, even if Obama hasn't been fully tested and tempered, this silly vapid Palin has even less of that quality for us.
