La Opinion endorses Barack Obama
Source: Associated Press

LOS ANGELES—La Opinion, the nation's largest Spanish-language daily newspaper, endorsed Barack Obama for president on Friday.

The nation "is at a crossroads. The country needs a different vision and a new focus to the problems that have been dragging on for decades. Barack Obama is the right person to begin a new cycle of renewal," the newspaper wrote.

The paper noted that it backed John McCain in California's Republican primary in February "but he is not the same today as he used to be. He has replaced his moderation with a rigid ideological orientation to please his party's conservative base. His attacks and negative tone of his campaign have taken the place of fresh ideas." . . .

3. i don't think people realize how much minorities have been turned off by McCain
maybe not himself personally , but the campaign he has ran and especially Palin.

the attacks they throw out at Obama and all the less than American stuff are things that many minorities deal with and they feel it personally. not just as an attack on Obama.

the things she says about how Obama is not like us.

4. Hopefully even non-minorities are turned off by McCain's idiocy
McCain has sold his soul and will always regret going the Rovian way.

5. Obama has gained and is leading among white independents
so i think it has.

you know how Bush put out minorities at his convention on stage (but not many in the audience) ? those things are always meant to get support from moderate whites.

i think McCain is doing the same when he speaks out against some of the attacks on Obama. if he really meant it his entire campaign would stop, but they don't because they want to get the racist vote.

but they are hoping Mccain's few moments like with that "he's an arab" lady will get the moderate whites. i hope they see through it.

10. Notice how he's wearing a wristwatch?
Perhaps an odd thing to notice, but it's telling, in a way.

Many politicians won't wear one when glad-handing the crowd -- they're afraid someone will rip it off their arm. Especially republics, who'll grab the gold fillings from your mouth, if you smile too broadly.

But not here. He trusts them. They trust him. Good feeling.:-)

(Of course, I could understand why president Shit-fer-Brains wouldn't want to risk his diamond-enstudded, Rolex Oyster Perpetual, inscribed "Love and Kisses, Bandar. XOXOXOXOXO".)
