U.S. industrial output posts biggest fall in 34 years
Thu Oct 16, 2008 9:56am EDT

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. industrial production fell a sharp 2.8 percent in September, the biggest decline since December 1974, according to a report on Thursday that was likely to reinforce fears of a recession.

6. LOL!
I'm an air-freight pickup driver in what was the main industrial area of St. Paul - and I haven't been to an actual FACTORY in years! Last one I can think of closed about 5 years ago - busy, successful one too (giant printing plant of all the cereal boxes and such for Pillsbury and General Mills)- closed and sent offshore somewhere.

Since then, I pretty much just go to dozens of mortgage and title places - did I mention that my route has suddenly shrunk a lot?

:grr:

2. That's pretty bad considering there's about 40% less American factories now
Than there was in the 70's

3. What U.S. Industry is that? The only things manufactured in the U.S. are
...military weapons, bombs, bullets, weapons guidance systems, tasers and pornography!
