Source: WTAQ

As the crowd cheered at a Sarah Palin rally this morning in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, a man in the audience grinned as he held up a stuffed monkey doll with a Barack Obama bumper sticker wrapped across its forehead.

America's bottom. We've all known it was there and now it's time to face it. Racists in America will vote against their own interests, they will vote against their childrens' interests. They are the minority. I welcome this vile shit because it brings it out in the open, into to good light of day. No more code words, no more winks. The haters are out and John McCain owns them.

8. thank you for that breath of reality
most civilized countries do not consider this "free speech".

We heard from folks in Germany who say this stuff reminds them of Hilter's rise in power. The kind of things that happened at his rallies are the same sorts of things we are seeing in McKKKain's rallies.

It is not OK.

31. sorry, but inciting violence in such a way as to remind
Germans of Nazi rallies is not covered by "Free speech", hence my sarcasm in the use of the term.

there is a line that reasonable people can draw and indeed, MUST draw at certain times.

This is one of those times.

did you mean to take my comment as a definitive comment on free speech? It wasn't intended that way and it is irresponsible in my opinion to take that kind of black and white view point on this very serious subject.

33. that guys monkey doll is ignorant, and racist.,,but it is certainly NOT
inciting anybody to violence. I'd prefer racists be more open about their views. Easier for me to mock them, their employers to fire them, and their neighbors/friends to shun them.

The Supreme Court has set a justifiably high bar toward what is "incitement." This didn't come close.

13. Sadly...
I'm afraid this is only the tip of the iceberg. Last night I almost got into a fight with a drunk who asked me if I was moving back to Africa (I'm Black), and if I was taking Obama with me.

As much as I loved living here, I'm not going to miss some of your countrymen when I move back to the UK.

18. Your Brit accent probably threw him off.
Y'know, the ignoramus probably doesn't have a clue there're Black people in England!! So his instant assumption is that you HAVE to be African.

Welcome to the United States of Cultural Idiocy, Mellow Fellow.

Of course, that kind of racism isn't only confined to America. When I first lived in London in 1974, I stormed out of a soccer game because my friends made monkey noises every time a black player got the ball. They truly couldn't understand my fury--and they had black friends! Hopefully the younger generation is far more enlightened.

21. Welcome to DU
There are assholes everywhere. Worse, there are ignorant assholes everywhere.

I cannot tell you how many times that I, as a Native American woman at American Indian protests, have been told that if I didn't like this country, I should go back where I came from. I've had to tell these people that I would but their house is there. That always puzzles them. It also never fails that one of the idiots will yell something like "Go 7th Calvary". To which I have responded, "they lost and my ancestors helped take them out." Idiots are everywhere and, unfortunately, they like to make their presence known.

You have to accept that the intelligence bell curve has a lowest 25% and based on a recent poll, 23% support Bush. I think the gap between the Bush poll numbers and the McCain poll numbers can only be explained by racist idiots like this one, although he in particular seems to fall into the lowest 25% category.

16. Thank goodness The Chimperator broke through the monkey barrier.
Some of us have spent the past ten years noting our current President's behavioral and phenotypical similarities to chimpanzees. It's gonna be tough to pretend that didn't happen as this sort of stuff does.

Obviously, there's a huge difference, as the Obama monkeys are almost certainly driven by racism while the Bush monkeys are driven by stupidity (on the part of the President). But a monkey is a monkey, no matter whom it represents, and somehow this doesn't hurt me nearly as much as it would have ten years ago. I hope it doesn't hurt Senator Obama as much, either.

32. SAW MORE VIDEO OF THIS YESTERDAY
and the camera kept on this guy for the longest time. The camera hung on him, I think he was already standing in his place. And you could tell the longer the camera was on him, the more uncomfortable he became. Eventually he took off the Obama sticker from its forehead. The camera kept on him longer. He shifted, smiled uncomfortably, kept looking around. Then he gave the doll to a guy with his kid.

I think that speaks volumes. That jerk knew what he was doing was wrong and his conscience bugged the cr@p out of him the more the public eye was on him. He knew what he did and what he was being.
