3. Climb, baby. . .climb!
Give me 10 - 15 by the end of the end!

Because, Obama can, theoretically, eat between 383 - 404 EVs if things fall into place correctly. According to polls, he's got 343 right now!

As the older, lower polls drop off the list they average together, the average moves slowly higher. Their average of several polls has been pretty smoothly moving up for the last 2 weeks. Meanwhile, they put 277 electoral votes, seven more than he needs to win, in Obama's column by at least 5%. McCain has 158. 103 are in toss-up states, most of which show Obama with a small lead. For instance, Obama leads by 3.8% in Florida and 4.0% in Colorado. They could change to "leaning Obama" any day now, like Virginia did on the 9th. Obama's lead in Virginia is now 6.3%.

McCain would have to take all the toss-up states and then some to win at this point. And he doesn't have the money or the issues to do it. The third debate is supposed to focus on the economy, McCain's loser subject. His campaign desperately wants to find something else to talk about, anything else. Okay, not Troopergate or the Keating 5. And definitely not how his campaign is flailing about, or how his Republican base is now booing him. Could they change the subject of the third debate to flower arrangement?

7. McCain is likely taking instruction from Sarah Palin on debate tactics ...
... so you can expect him to spin every economic question to either the "success" of The Surge(tm) or William Ayers.

6. I hope it climbs.
Many expect last-minute racism to eat up a few points, and the GOP will undoubtedly try to throw the race yet again, so a few more points and we might pull it out...
