'Rap video glorifying Laden a hit'

LONDON : A music video glorifying Osama bin Laden and containing images of the September 11 attacks in New York has become a big hit with young Muslims, the Observer newspaper said on Sunday.

The song Dirty Kuffar (non-believer) by a young British rapper who calls himself Sheikh Terra rails against Prime Minister Tony Blair and the US President George W Bush, calling on believers to “throw them on the fire”.

“I do not know of any young Muslim who has not either seen or got this video. It is selling everywhere. Everyone I meet at the mosque is asking for it,” Mohammed al-Massari, an exiled Saudi dissident, told the Observer.

The song starts with images of US marines in Iraq cheering as one of them shoots a wounded Iraqi lying on the floor and finishes with images of the hijacked planes flying into the World Trade Center towers in New York with sounds of the rappers laughing.

One of the video’s most brutal images shows an Islamic fighter in Chechnya executing a captured Russian soldier with a Kalashnikov. Another image shows photographs of US Secretary of State Colin Powell and national security adviser Condeleezza Rice with the words “still slaves” superimposed across their bodies.

it's a minority of radicalized Muslims - often 3rd generation children of immigrants, who feel ruled out of society.

If they are saying throw Bush and Blair on the fire, I agree, metaphorically. If they are pointing out the atrocities of the US and Russian soldiers who have invaded Muslim countries over and over again, so be it. If the WTC collapsing is shown as a symbol of cause and effect, well it WAS cause and effect, if you believe the Muslim "terrorist" doing 9-11 version.

I'm sorry, but the US glorifies its crimes, should everyone else be censored? And I can't stand violent videos, but we create the same.

Just thoughts, maybe the actual video is really unfair, although somehow I have my doubts.

They use little arabic, mostly the word Kuffar, Disbeliver and Salat, prayer. Strong caribbean/reggie beat. Their accents also sound more caribbean to me than english, tho I could be wrong. I have an american ear.

There are TWO such clips in the video. In both cases, apparently wounded soldiers are killed and the perpetrators cheer. Yet only ONE of them is considered a "brutal image"? What about the interview with the soldier afterwards where he says "hell yeah, lets do it again!" Not brutal?

In fact, this video seemed rather TAME to me. Compared to the 24 hour a day (at the time) glorification of the US bombing of Baghdad, it seems rather bland. There weren't enough explosions.

But, I agree. How dare Muslims treat the US the way the US treats Muslims? After all, movies like Seal Team, and Rambo 3 and so on are in no way glorification of the killing of Muslims eh?

It's just like my older siamese cat. He has had experienced nothing but love from us his entire life and when we got 2 new siamese kittens last month, instead of being jealous or bitchy, he just loved the hell out of them and he oves taking care of them and showing them the ropes.

Well , if we go around helping other countries (esp Muslim countries) instead of blowing the hell out of them we might expect a positive reaction back.,

The video is pretty mild as you said, compared to the constant anti-Islamic warmongering we saw in the media. Starts with a young American soldier gloating over how good it felt to kill an injured Iraqi in the street, and how he would do it again. Ends with the young men in the video laughing about the destruction of the WTC.

I didn't see any glorifying OBL in this video. I am always amazed how touchy some Americans get when the mirror is held up before them. I suspect it is the list of countries at the end that really bothers some folks.

...American Marine being interviewed after killing an Iraq soldier who lay wounded on the ground among cheers and laughs of fellow soldiers.

Glorifying war, death, and destruction is just plain wrong, I don't care WHO is doing it. I think those who made this video had that in mind when they showed the interview with the US soldier as if to say... "see, you celebrate our deaths, we'll celebrate yours." I see no difference between the two. Back in Kansas, I used to work at an aircraft parts manufacturer, I would time and again here several of my co-workers say "lets just kill them all" and "why don't we just nuke the whole effin country and be done with it?" Another time on the back of a pick-up window, flags waving, someone stenciled "Nuke em all, turn that desert to glass!" Please tell me who the radicals are?

The real question which begs to be asked is this. "What has hurt you so bad that you feel that you have to hurt us in order for you to feel better?" I'm not sure people are prepared for the answer.
