Kerry Wins Two More States, Aims Volleys at Bush

Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) swept two more states last night by dominating party caucuses in Michigan and Washington, and immediately shifted his attention from his Democratic rivals to President Bush, signaling his readiness to challenge what he called the administration's "extreme" policies and saying, "Democrats will not run from a fight about who represents mainstream America."

Former Vermont governor Howard Dean suffered another blow to his already weakened candidacy yesterday when Gerald W. McEntee, president of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), one of the first unions to endorse Dean, told the candidate in a face-to-face meeting that his union was withdrawing its support. Dean vowed to fight on without AFSCME's help.

Three weeks after his surprise victory in Iowa, Kerry continues to ride a wave of support that threatens to turn the Democratic race into a romp, with his rivals rapidly running out of opportunities to stop him. Kerry has won nine of the first 11 contests, is favored in today's Maine caucuses and leads the polls for Tuesday's primaries in Virginia and Tennessee.

There is not one issue in the whole article where Kerry calls for change. The only issue seems to be sending Bush home. I will now call this the Mindless Election of 2004.
