"Defrocked judge draws capacity crowd" Roy Moore at JMU
Edited on Sat Feb-07-04 04:54 PM by goldilox369
Roy Moore Visits Harrisonburg VA

2-7-04 article

Here's some of what was said:
-snip-
"Moore argues that, historically, God has been invoked over and over in the shaping of America, from George Washington ('We were one nation under God even before his inaugural address') to every U.S. president who has placed his hand on the Bible and sworn an oath to his country.

'I've never known one to place it on the Koran' Moore said. "

*rrrrggggg* i despise this man and the attention he is getting! it just makes all the wackos come out of the woodwork.

1. Looks like standard Virginia behavior to me
Any more questions why I moved 3000 miles to the other coast?

5. give this defrocked judge some running room, he shows the evangelical
extremists for what they are, and their support of religious terrorism.

That's a poltical opinion, of course.

His statements are inflammatory but, as a private citizen now, he's got a right to 'em.

No pun intended.

6. run, roy, run!
a run by roy moore on the constitution party's ticket would probably siphon a couple million votes from the man-child in the oval office.

7. I love this line he says...
Asked if his stance puts one religion above others, he said, "God's not a religion."

Then what IS IT, numbskull? :wtf:

8. Dumb good ol' boys
I feel so sorry for smart southerners. First they gotta deal with superintendent of Georgia taking the word "evolution" out of the school books but now the South has to deal with this moron Moore. Is he familiar with the commandment "Thou shalt not kill." Morons.

9. It must be quite a load to be so much better than southern folks
Good luck with your superior ways and thinking. Heaven knows God was never mentioned by the founding fathers of America.

10. Are you a smart or dumb southerner
Did I say all Southerners are dumb. No, I just said that I empathise with the Southerners who aren't blinded by the God squad, Fox News, NASCAR and damn yanks.

11. I'm from the North
And I'd choose a southerner as a trustworthy friend over most that I know from the North. The people from the south I know have proven to be more honest than most I know from home in the North.

19. It's not a question of honesty
everyone is dishonest about something. and even that depends on what you're talking about. Southern people pay much lipservice to "being polite" and don't like negative advertising when it goes against what the "ALREADY BELIEVE" a difference in opinion is dealt the standard "hey, lets not get negative here." when it's a negative opinion against someone whom does not agree with them it's "STANDING ON PRINCIPLE" whether that principle is ignorant and ill-advised. Ignorance is widespread. But Southerners have always felt attacked. and they always stand on this whole idea of "i'm not going to take it anymore" so they open up their stupid ignorant mouths and never remember they've never taken it, they've always thrown some southern redneck hick up there to defend "TRADITIONAL" values...it's just saying "HEY WE'RE GONNA STAND ON PRINCIPLE EVEN IF IT'S WRONG JUST SO WE CAN SAY WE NEVER CHANGE OUR MINDS" It's time to stand up and say "IT'S NOT A CRIME TO CHANGE YOUR MIND!! it's called an INFORMED DECISION!!" *spit* i'm going to drink away the anger.

12. Bill Maher ranted about the South Last night
Said it was time for Southerners to vote for someone that doesn't pronounce all 4 e's in "shit." Went on and said stop attacking evolution. What next? Attacking gravity? Do Southerners think gravity a plot by Jews to make loose change fall on the ground?

He was brutal last night. It was great.

16. Run, Roy, Run! Roy Moore for President
Yep, let's see how Bush likes somebody running to his hard Right on social issues. Moore has threatened it, and he is just megalomaniac enough to do it. One of Rove's worst nightmares.

18. Thanks. I was getting ready to post this.
Let's encourage Moore to get himself out there. Let Dim Son and Rove get pushed to the far right. They deserve it because that's where they belong.

20. i'm not anti religion
if you want your religion and it gets you through the night, great. but when you want ME to have your religion? and you want to have a major theist statue on a public ground where i have to pass it every damn day...well it's not religion anymore.
This country was founded on slavery too, and witch burnin'...i don't see a big 2 1/2 ton monument with a beat up witch at a burnin' stake on the lawn of the court house..i don't see huge monument depicting white people returning run away slaves because our nation was founded on those laws do i? it's called OFFENSIVE!!! i mean, why not put a big monument of old white guys havin' sex...they all did that too...Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson would f*** anything...our nation was founded *literally* on people having sex...but that's just not kosher is it? *gripe gripe gripe*

Listening to a goof like this. Would rather sit in a traffic jam someplace. Between this guy and the creationists, I don;t see how these bible beaters get any attention at all.
