Report Implicates White House (E-Mails Hint at Involvement in Prosecutor Firings, Officials Say)

In 18 months of searching, Justice Department Inspector General Glenn A. Fine and Office of Professional Responsibility chief H. Marshall Jarrett have uncovered new e-mail messages hinting at heightened involvement of White House lawyers and political aides in the firings of nine federal prosecutors two years ago.

But they could not probe much deeper because key officials declined to be interviewed and a critical timeline drafted by the White House was so heavily redacted that it was "virtually worthless as an investigative tool," the authorities said.

"We were unable to fully develop the facts regarding the removal of Iglesias and several other U.S. Attorneys because of the refusal by certain key witnesses to be interviewed by us, as well as the White House's decision not to provide . . . internal documents to us," the investigators concluded in their report.

The standoff is a central reason that Attorney General Michael B. Mukasey on Monday named a veteran public-corruption prosecutor, Nora R. Dannehy, to continue the investigation, directing her to give him a preliminary report on the status of the case in 60 days.

These days though *sigh* I find myself nearly unable to support many republicans, not that the democrats are saints of course just that I think most of them stand better on social policies and wanting to help everyone as much as possible.
True they have problems like Lieberman but such types are few and far between.

According to Article 1, Section 3 of the Constitution, impeachment can be used to remove an official, including a President from Office, and, to disqualify that person from holding and enjoying any Office of honor, Trust, or Profit under the United States.

Nixon could have, and should have, been impeached after he resigned.

Bush could be, and should be, impeached after he leaves office.

If what has happened in my community is any example, the problem is that they have tainted so many people in politics, military, government, business, etc. that it's impossible to find "a reasonable person" any more.

Its gotten to the point that when I hear that the White House is implicated again I can't help but think, so what, NOBODY but Kucinich has the fortitude to step up and do ANYTHING about it, why bother telling us what most already know, the squatters in the White House are up to their eyeballs in criminal activity. Mukasey isn't going to do anything, his appointee will most likely aid and abet in the effort to make sure that nothing incriminating becomes public.
