Palin won't reveal her finances until after debate

WASHINGTON (AP) — Sarah Palin requested and received an extension of the deadline for revealing her personal finances, until the day after her only debate with Democrat Joe Biden.

The Republican vice presidential candidate received a four-day extension Thursday from the Federal Election Commission.

The federal financial disclosure report was initially due next Monday. Now, Palin has until Oct. 3, the day after her debate in St. Louis with Biden, the Democratic vice presidential nominee.

Earlier this month, Biden released a decade of personal financial records that showed the veteran U.S. senator from Delaware earned less than many of his congressional colleagues. For example, Biden and his wife, Jill, earned $319,853 in 2007. On Thursday, Biden submitted an updated report to the Federal Election Commission

Presidential, vice presidential and congressional candidates must all file ethics reports outlining their assets and liabilities. That includes such things as sources of income, real estate held for investment purposes, stocks and debt.

Either the McCain people want the media to be distracted by Palin's tax disclosure, spending all day poring over it instead of rehashing what is sure to be another sorry speaking performance by her; or else they're hoping that the shock and carnage of what is sure to be another sorry speaking performance by her will distract the media from poring over her tax disclosure.

It's a real pickle. Not only can McCain not win, but there's plenty of time for the press, and the rest of us (who CAN do two things at once) to hammer Palin for both of what are sure to be enormous blunders.

15. It's true according to those who live there

but hard to prove because todd gets a paycheck from the oil company for "work" -- they can say that is anything...people inn Alaska say he doesn't "work" there -- it's lobbying money. This isn't unusual at all...it's just not publicly discussed and it doesn't look good. it certainly isn't a "reformer" kind of thing to do - but then, she has a 15% attendance rate as Gov and hcarged the state for per diem for being at home...is this a surprise?

I think we can meet McCain in the middle for that at least. Let Palin have 2 more days to prepare since campaign insiders say she's clueless, and I'm not worried about Biden's performance. Of course, we're doing this out of the goodness of our hearts.
