Polling news from all over: Obama numbers creeping up

Story | Poll suggests McCain's support softening as race stays tied
By Peter St. Onge | Charlotte Observer
The much-anticipated Time/CNN battleground polls have been released Wednesday, with Barack Obama showing surprising strength in three states, including N.C., that many were beginning to write off.

The results:

Florida: Obama 48, McCain 48

North Carolina: McCain 48, Obama 47

Ohio: Obama 49, McCain 47

Indiana: McCain 51, Obama 45

Wisconsin: Obama 50, McCain 47

The North Carolina, Ohio, and Florida polls give Obama quite a bounce from recent polls, including surveys released today from American Research Group that have McCain up 11 in North Carolina and six in Ohio. The Time/CNN polls were conducted more recently than most of the ARG polls, however, perhaps reflecting a slight Obama uptick from the past few days of pointed economic swipes at McCain.

1. With the economic news being what it is...
I really doubt that this trend, albeit modest at the present time, is going to reverse itself. The news is cataclysmic for the repukes, and no amount of putting the blame on the dems, via the last two years of congressional control, is gonna change that.

Not only is is really over for them, but if they lose everything, this puts them in the position of having a lot of legal skeletons in their closet being exposed, and that has to be scaring them at the sub-atomic level.

2. America prefers Obama on the issues...
...the dropping Dow is bad news for McCain. His only hope is to make the election a circus, to make it about personalities and narrative and gut feelings and lipstick and who you'd have a beer with. When faced with the economy, jobs, gas prices, and other issues important to the American people, he fades into Bush's shadow.

It sucks that our economy is tanking, but, due to Publican mismanagement, it was going to tank anyway. They did all they could to keep it alive through the election, but their best wasn't enough. Now their chickens have come home to roost, and those foul fowl are crapping all over John McCain's aspirations.

Now that the election is about the issues again, McCain has an uphill battle. And as someone who's FAR over the hill already, he's headed in the wrong direction.

is sneaking through the door. The un-sold-out media, journalists and writers, I hope are keeping an eye on LD and friends too. That's how Gramm pulled his fast-ones. It's their style.

Very good news that Obama's turning around though - it would be cool if it keeps going and becomes a landslide. (I'm not expecting it though.)

5. Do they really expect us to believe that after EIGHT YEARS of bozo in the White House
and the McCain circus that this election is even CLOSE??????!

And the meme about Hillary women supporting Palin? LOL!!!! Yeah right. Those
Hillary women aren't too bright either.

Even if you don't have a high opinion of the intelligence of the American people,
how low would it have to be to believe these polls?

Insulting.

6. The pollsters can't hide the truth forever
We are now seeing that Obama really is ahead. I suspect he was always ahead, but the polls have been slanted by clever manipulation to favor the Republicans.

Straight-talkin' Johnny Maverick's poll numbers will surge (heh, heh) again next month when he names another running mate. Then you'll be laughing out the other side of you polls, then!
