Sarkozy Says Iran May Provoke Israeli Attack, Causing Disaster
Source: Bloomberg

By Francois de Beaupuy

Sept. 4 (Bloomberg) -- French President Nicolas Sarkozy said Iran's nuclear program may provoke an attack by Israel, urging the Islamic republic to accept international inspections.

``Iran is taking a major risk in continuing its process of obtaining nuclear weapons, which we are certain is happening,'' Sarkozy said today in Damascus, Syria. ``One day, whatever the Israeli government is, we can imagine ourselves one morning with an Israel that would have attacked. That would be a disaster.''

Sarkozy is using the meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, an Iranian ally, to press efforts to convince Tehran that it should cease its uranium-enrichment program and give full access to international inspectors. The French president is trying to deepen France's political influence in the Middle East and renewed Europe's ties with Syria after Assad's help in ending an 18-month-long political deadlock in Lebanon in May ...

Iran denies seeking nuclear weapons and says it's only developing civil nuclear energy. Israel had no immediate reaction to Sarkozy's statement, Andy David, a Foreign Ministry spokesman, said by phone from Jerusalem ...

7. Isn't that like saying Pakistan is provoking an attack by India, and the
US is provoking an attack by Russia and France is provoking an attack by the UK?

Does the French president have his head up his ass?

When you say shit like that, the response from the Iranians is to try to get some nuclear deterrence ASAP to keep Israel from attacking them, since the invasion of Lebanon proved that Israel is a loose cannon that does not follow the normal rules of civilized behavior.

Maybe the French president has his head up someone else's ass.

11. So you show the picture of the PRESIDENT of Iran, he has nothing to do with this.
Edited on Sun Sep-07-08 06:16 PM by happyslug
Remember all the President of Iran is, is the person with the day to day function of running the Country, he does NOT make long term decisions, such as whether to build Nuclear weapons or no (or evne to permit in inspectors). All the President of Iran is a a big month kook, with no power except the title (but NOT the power) of President of Iran.

The person who makes the decision as to where Iran is going is the "Supreme Leader" not the President. The "Supreme Leader" is this man, Ali Khamenei:
