One casualty of the scaled-back convention is a huge booking operation the Republican National Committee had fielded to place delegates, lawmakers and pundits on local broadcasts around the country. The operation was shut down Sunday afternoon. No airwave time amid all the storm coverage, and not much for them to say.

The homepages of both presidential campaigns yesterday featured preparations for Hurricane Gustav, with links to nonprofits.

I guess when those religious righties were "praying for rain of biblical proportions" they forgot to say when & where! Thankfully for the people of the gulf states, this hurricane is not as bad as predicted. I've always heard, "Be careful what you wish for - you might get it!"
