Tropical Depression 8 Forms Tropical Storm Hannah in Leeward Islands

"Tropical Depression 8" is set to become Tropical Storm Hannah as it forms off of the coast of the northern Leeward Islands on Thursday.

Originally entitled "Tropical Depression 8", Hannah had top sustained winds near 40 mph Thursday, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Hannah, the eighth tropical storm of the Atlantic season, could produce rainfall of 1 to 4 inches across parts of the Leeward Islands.

Hannah has joined Tropical Storm Gustav as both terrorize the Caribbean Islands. However, in just a short time, Hannah is already the size of Gustav. Both are expected to become hurricanes soon.

6. Hanna is getting the hell sheared out of it.

Its been a naked swirl most of the afternoon, but in the past 30 minutes some new convection has developed over the eastern half of the circulation.

The upper-level low north of Puerto Rico has really taken a toll on Hanna, but it is expected to get out of the way.
