Anarchists plan to disrupt delegates at Pepsi Center
Source: Rocky Mountain News

PEPSI CENTER — The same anarchist protesters who Monday night blocked off a downtown street and clashed with officers in riot gear say on their Web site that they plan a similar disruption tonight at the Pepsi Center aimed at stopping delegates from reaching the arena.

The Web site of DNC Disruption 08 says that protesters are to take two different tactics tonight - "snake marches" and blockades.

"Two snake marches will leave from two locations north and south of the Pepsi Center, making their way through downtown in a raucous, festive manner (bring your noise makers!) to delegate entrances at the Pepsi Center," the site reads. "Should one or both of the marches not reach the security perimeter, the marches will fall back to secondary goals."

The time and exact locations were not revealed. As of midafternoon, the area around the arena was mostly calm. Shortly after 2:30 a small group of protesters approached the Pepsi Center perimeter, but were pushed back by police.

The site says the group Unconventional Denver is calling out to other uncommitted "affinity groups" for help.

7. I used to hang out with Anarchists and Wobblies and the like.
Can they hold meetings!! Hours and hours of meetings!! I laughed out loud once at an Anarchist meeting where they were talking about training organizers! Out loud! That's when I learned the other important thing to know about Anarchists. They tend to be lacking in the sense of humor/irony dept.

62. Of course
"No leaders" does not equal "no organising". There is, of course, big difference between (hierarchical) top-down organizing and (democratic) bottom-up getting organized.

i believe they are there to impede free speach and prevent gatherings of peaceful people thru fear. they provide the Coporate Media an opportunity to spin and distort the real message of grass roots movements. they have organized training camps, but it is really hard to find any info on them

55. Not so sure about that
They share in two things:

1) They both want to destroy our government.

2) They hate Democrats.

Which begs the question: why are we even discussing the little face mask wearing suburban wannabes
on a site dedicated to empowering the Democratic Party? Seems like a bit of a paradox to me. I mean,
everyone is entitled to live out their fantasies, but why should we have to hear about them here?

I think we need to do a survey of your so-called 'anarchist' friends and find out exactly how many of them
have ATM and credit cards. My guess would be around 90%. Most of whom are dependent on others to
handle the financing.

It is to get the worst person elected to help tear apart and destroy the system faster with as much chaos to it as possible.

Locally anachists have an organization to get conservative Jim Torrey elected to throw out Liberal Democrat Kitty Percy and call it E.A.T., Eugene Anarchists for Torrey.

I hope this helps enlighten you, believe me, I know what I am talking about here.

63. Me thinks
What is certainly not a succesfull strategy is keeping the faith in exponential growth of consumerist economy - the most fundamental faith of the two-headed US party of corporate fascism, the system of repreresentative corruption and plutocratic oligarchy (certainly not democracy except for propaganda purpose).

For example, ecovillages and other similar seeds of future are organized according to anarchistic principles (even though they seldom define themselves as "anarchists").

64. "Who is funding these people"
you wonder, referring to anarchists. They are not funded by anyone, but self-organized.

So, on the other hand, who is funding the people allowed inside the Pepsi Center? Their corporate masters.

So, there is one group of people, ordered to be confined to the anti-constitutional "Free Speach Zone", real democrats who are fead up with corporate fascism and the corrupt two party system in servitude to corporate fascism. And other group of people getting corrupted by corporate fascism in the Pepsi center, protected from seeing and hearing the democrats by storm troopers of the corporate fascism.

And you identify with wich group?

66. American anarchism is a bit disorganized compared to the EU counterpart.
It's a shame but the anarchist movement in America (at once 200k people strong) has been pretty well squashed by corporatist Social Darwinism. Most who identify as anarchist in America cease being as such as soon as the dope runs out and they realize it actually ... doesn't necessarily get them laid.

So it's not unfair to take the young kids running around throwing rocks very seriously. In America you can consider it a ritual of sorts, get past the banal shit, actually get into the theory, actually organize with other anarchists, you'll probably be one for life.
