Police Investigate Possible Plot To Kill Obama

DENVER (CBS4) ― Law enforcement authorities have arrested two men and several law enforcement sources say the investigation is looking into whether the men intended to harm presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama.

According to multiple sources, Aurora police made a routine traffic stop Sunday morning at 2:38 a.m. The Secret Service says two rifles were found in the car along with methamphetamine. Another law enforcement source says he was told at least one of the rifles was a "sniper rifle."

A second source told CBS4 Investigator Brian Maass authorities told officers they are concerned they may have come upon a possible "assassination plot."

That arrest then led authorities to a second man staying at the Cherry Creek Hotel at 600 South Colorado Blvd. in Glendale. When authorities knocked on the man's door, they say he jumped out of his sixth floor window, landing on an awning and running from the scene. They say they soon found him with a broken ankle. He too was arrested.

A chartered jet flying the candidate from Chicago, to North Carolina, had to be diverted to St. Louis after an unexplained 'mishap' in the plane's tail section. An inflatable escape chute somehow was *partially* inflated after take-off, affecting critical control cables in the tail of the jet. Pilots immediately sensed something was wrong.

This website has photos of the partially inflated chute, and the safety lockdown on the metal cannister that normally holds these chutes. (These things are *not* designed to "accidentally" deploy in mid-flight.)

These are not the only ones to worry about. They're everywhere. Listening to conservative talk radio. Listening to the subtle messages that Barack Obama is a threat to the future of this nation. As if to say, one must now prove their Christianity in order to become president. The media should have refused to participate. The media itself is part of the problem.

There is the subtle message on conservative talk radio that Barack Obama has become a threat to the future of this nation. But it is not so subtle a message in the various forums around the country set up by conservatives. Certainly not so subtle in the meetings and conversations around the country.

We've gone from the "kinder, gentler" nation promised us by one Bush to the "meaner, nastier" nation given us by another Bush whose "compassionate conservatism" is a compassion reserved for the conservatives who believe some are less than others and therefore have no real protections and rights under the law and certainly have no right to lead this country as president. And their icons will of course fuel the fires and hope that some malcontent or misfit assassinates Barack Obama. To save the country.

The Clintons certainly didn't do much to unite this country with her campaign which was at times blatantly racist with regard to the governor of Pennsylvania's comments that they did not rebuke or her own comments about "hard-working white voters." Most of whom of course did not like Ted Kennedy "passing the torch" to Barack Obama instead of Hillary Clinton. The Clintons did not deserve the torch. And would not have been able to carry it. Only Barack Obama can.

All around this country there are "conservative" and "moderate" Democrats who call themselves Blue Dogs and they will be the ones who will cost Barack Obama the election. They are not anything but rabidly racist dogs. And they should have joined the Republican Party along with the other "conservative" and "moderate" Democrats a long time ago who provided the foundation for the new party of corruption and racism. The Republicrat Party which hijacked the Republican Party and is attempting to hijack the Democrat Party and the democracy in the process.

Fitting that the word democracy is the root of the word Democrat and if democracy is to survive in this country, the Democratic Party is the only way it will.

The problem is there are too many in the Democratic Party who also apparently believe that some are less than others and that the Constitution really doesn't matter.

As always, all eyes turn to Madame Speaker. Who promoted one of these Blue Dogs as the vice-presidential nominee.

Minorities must be registered to vote and must vote in November. If you have time to work with the various organizations in the major cities who are trying to register as many minority voters as possible by October, do it. And if you don't, don't complain when John McCain is declared the winner in November. And if you think you don't need to become involved because the party itself will pull it all together, you need to finally take a good look at Nancy Pelosi.

a sniper... What is a "sniper rifle". Let me answer that for ya.

A Remington 700 bolt action rifle generally in 308 maybe 300 win mag with a 10x fixed mag scope. Generally the same as a hunting rifle.

There are probably 4 rigs that would be considered "sniper" rifles. They range from 10k on up.

There were some towards-the-end-of-the-war rifles that were shoddy, the 8mm carcano was a risky idea, and some carcanos were designed with progressive rifling and then cut down, which hindered the accuracy, otherwise...

DENVER (CBS4) ― CBS4 has now learned at least four people are under arrest in connection with a possible plot to kill Barack Obama at his Thursday night acceptance speech in Denver. All are being held on either drug or weapons charges.

CBS4 Investigator Brian Maass reported one of the suspects told authorities they were "going to shoot Obama from a high vantage point using a ... rifle … sighted at 750 yards."

this assumes a person with a rifle could get within 750 yards of a candidate without having their teeth blown onto the wall behind them before they had a chance to set up...

the 300 win mag has a 20 foot drop (or so, did not run it through the computer) at 750 yards. It (the round) will be in the air for almost 2 seconds. Variances in box ammo at that range translate to feet of drop, so handloads worked up on a chrono are the only way to do something like that. Not a meth heads hobby, little bit intense. To shoot benchrest with any consistency takes thousands of rounds of practice and happens in controlled circumstance. This assumes a person has context and can adjust for all kinds of things going on while setting up.

Wind of any type would move a round feet left or right at a 750 yard line.

This person does not like he could compute a tip. However glad he was caught before had a chance to hurt anyone. Or cause a federal agent psychological distress after that agent had to put a round in his head.

Sadly this stuff is a danger. These people will get more stirred up as the election gets closer.
