No more hugs as Obama tears into McCain

RENO, Nev.—So much for hugging in church. A day after Barack Obama and John McCain exchanged an embrace during a faith forum at a California megachurch, Obama called the U.S. economy a disaster thanks to "John McCain's president, George W. Bush," and chided his Republican rival's campaign team for trying to make him look unpatriotic and weak.

At a town hall meeting with several hundred union members, Obama said he had had a great conversation with McCain at the forum at Saddleback Church sponsored by the popular evangelical pastor Rick Warren. The two candidates shook hands, briefly hugged and stood onstage with Warren, the first time they appeared together in public since the end of the primary season.

But Sunday, after praising the Arizona senator as a "genuine American patriot," the Democratic presidential hopeful got back to business -- methodically tearing into McCain's health care, tax and energy policies and criticizing his advisers. "McCain says 'Here's my plan, I'm going to drill here, drill now which is something he only came up with two months ago when he started looking at polling," Obama said of McCain's energy policy.

The Illinois senator also criticized McCain's advisers as "the same old folks that brought you George W. Bush. The same team." He noted many had been lobbyists in Washington before McCain asked them to sever all lobbying ties. Obama added, "They say this other guy is unpatriotic, or this guy likes French people. That's what they said about Kerry," referring to the 2004 Democratic nominee who lost narrowly to Bush. "They try to make it out like Democrats aren't tough enough, aren't macho enough. It's the same strategy."

This sort of denial echos the charge and makes it reverberate. Pointing out that the GOP is unfair and is fighting dirty never seems to work. Lot's of voters expect that and may even LIKE it. Also makes Obama seem whiney.

I'd just ignore their efforts to impugn his patriotism and stay on the attack; relentlessly on the attack. McCain: Bush clone, not particularly bright, bad judgement, consistently wrong on the issues, wreckless, easily confused.

Last night, Senator McCain, arbitrarily chose $5,000,000 as his baseline for being "rich" in America.

Since Senator McCain and his supporters have chosen to try to portray me as elitist and out-of-touch with Americans I'd like to point out that Senator McCain is more than TWENTY TIMES RICHER THAN THE PERSON HE MENTIONED LAST NIGHT AS A RICH AMERICAN. Senator McCain and his wife are reputed to have a NET WORTH of more than ONE HUNDRED AND TEN MILLION DOLLARS, but we cannot put an exact number on that because the Senator and his wife will not allow the release of her tax information for the last ten years. The McCains are also the proud owners of NINE HOMES. Yes, I said NINE HOMES, which are located in different locales across the country. Each home has its own grounds keepers and maintenance staff, and of course, housekeepers who shop for groceries and provide cleaning services when the McCains are "at home", or maybe I should say "in town". Michelle and I own our ONE home in Chicago and up until I was elected to serve in the U.S. Senate she and I were THE groundskeepers for our home--along with our two daughters who enjoy working in the yard with us from time to time. Michelle still does the grocery shopping and can whip up a mighty fine meal for me and the girls.

Now, I ask you, who do you consider the elitist, the rich American? The Senator who owns nine homes and whose wife is worth over 100 million dollars and her own private jet, or the Senator who owns one home and whose combined income along with his wife's has just edged over $1,000,000 annually.

Two years ago my wife and I were still trying to pay off our college tuition. And while we are not POOR by any shake of the imagination, I can relate to what every one of you hardworking, taxpaying citizens are going through. So, I ask you to tell me who is the elitist who is running for President of the United States.

I ask you for your vote. And I assure you that I will be looking out for your interests when I become President.

21. True Religious Freedom

Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

There are some like Bush/McCain and some Christians who say they believe in religious freedom, and may be sincere, but what they are really promoting is their freedom to live according to their personal religious morals(which is consistent) and their freedom to use our constitutionally secular government to force their citizen neighbor to also conform to their personal religious morals (this is inconsistent with true religious freedom)! The fruits of this false religious freedom, millions of religious and non-religious citizens potentially repressed and forced to convert and/or conform to a self-righteous group's personal moral doctrines or be put in prison, are proof of its error.

Bush/McCain have chosen to follow the example of the Islamic terrorists by declaring that “you are either for us or for the enemy!” Yahshua ha Mashiach, Jesus the Christ, experienced the results of this thinking and predicted that others in the future would too.

John 16:2 ……. yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.

Barack believes in true religious freedom as our founding fathers envisioned and God inspired. The constitution prevents the government from selecting a religious group and its associated personal religious morals and making them the law of the land. The fruits of promoting this God inspired wisdom are not anarchy but maximum personal freedom which leads to true peace and a mutual respect for diversity with social accountability and responsibility.

I didn't see the Saddleback Church debate, and I only know what I heard from David Bender about McCain's performance (alarmingly glowing), so I won't address it directly except to say this:

1. John McCain is trying to get the evangelicals back on his side, and unfortunately, it might be working, especially since this was his "home field";
2. Anybody who tells me or you that McCain is not getting all the help in the world from the media is LYING THROUGH THEIR TEETH (check out the cover story of the latest Newsweek, "What Bush Got Right", and tell me that's not pandering to Bush or his lapdog McCain). I would not put it past the church or the TV coverage from giving McCain any type of advantage;
3. I knew all along that this election was not going to be easy - any Democrat was going to go in with a disadvantage considering the machine that the Repubs put together.

Bottom line - the Republican Party of 2008 is not really "Republican". It is FASCIST. It must be defeated, and by a LARGE margin.
