Fire burns home of Congressional candidate

CARNATION, Wash. -- A fire Tuesday morning destroyed the house of Darcy Burner, who is running against Republican Rep. Dave Reichert for the U.S. House of Representatives in the state's 8th District.


Sandeep Kaushik, a spokesman for the Burner campaign, said the fire broke out about 7:45 a.m. at the home on West Ames Lake Dr. Northeast near Carnation.

Darcy Burner's house burned down today. She's running against Dave Reichert in the 8th District Congressional race in Washington (re-match - it was very close last time). I'm curious to hear more details. I didn't hear it reported on the news this morning.

Darcy Burner's home was completely destroyed in a fire that broke out at 7:45 this morning.

The family made it out of the house unharmed, but the home is completely destroyed. I spoke with Darcy's campaign manager, Derek Humphrey, a few minutes ago and he stressed that everyone, including their 8 month old puppy, are safe. The cause of the fire has not been determined.

I'll have an update within an hour or so. Our thoughts go out to Darcy and her family.

Update: Let me stress that the cause of the fire has not been determined. According to one story, it appears to have begun in the upstairs room of Darcy's son, Henry. That's as yet unconfirmed.
