Franken wins endorsement for Senate in Minnesota

ROCHESTER, Minn. (AP) — Al Franken has won a resounding endorsement for U.S. Senate from Democratic activists at the Minnesota state convention.

The former "Saturday Night Live" writer and performer beat college professor Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer on the first ballot Saturday. Franken had just given a speech to delegates apologizing for past jokes that offended some fellow Democrats.

Nelson-Pallmeyer conceded the endorsement to Franken and moved that Democrats unanimously back Franken. They did so by voice vote.

Republican Sen. Norm Coleman has his party's endorsement for re-election.

1. Glad to see it
A strong humor is indicative of a creative mind, something sorely lacking in the Senate these days!

11. Al had to get 60% to get the endorsement
I heard he got 62. His opponent, Jack Nelson Pallmeyer, a man of great integrity in the Wellstone model, immediately got up an moved for a unanimous ballot.

Al said, "The reason I'm a democrat is that the Democratic Party has people like Jack Nelson Pallmeyer."

Google Jack's name to see some great books on Peace, Justice, and other issues of importance to our world.

21. The Republicans have been working overtime to take the spotlight off of Normie Coleman, veteran
Bushbot, and on Franken's forays in the world of comedy writing and satire. This will be a hard-fought campaign.

25. It seems personal to Al, I hope he wins. Are there any Minnesotans
that have a feeling about this race? Isn't Coleman a New Yorker?

26. I was a delegate at the district level and shook Al's hand.
If Norm can be successfully framed as the neocon that he has turned into, it won't be close. The best the conservatives have is dredging up comments from AL's former carrer as a comedian and satirist. Unfortunately they have to defend Colman's former carrer as a neocon clown and satyrist.

While Coleman was OK as a Democratic mayor of St. Paul, his flip flop to the dark side relegated him to the lapdog pile. It will be interesting to see if Norm's marriage is up to he and his wife living in the same state. Her living mostly in LA for her acting career has always seemed convenient in light of Norm's reputed wandering ways.

Had Paul Wellstone not been killed in a plane crash, Coleman would likely be gone from politics.

28. Smear Campaign On YouTube.com
There are a ton of anti-Franken posts on youtube.com. As always, they are filled with half truths and other innuendo.

And, as always, Democrats sit by and allow themselves to slapped and spat upon by the Republican liars.
