U.S. House sets Iraq troop pullout goal for end-2009

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. House of Representatives defied President George W. Bush by passing legislation on Thursday that would set the end of 2009 as the goal for withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq.

By a vote of 227-196, the Democrat-controlled House approved the measure that would start the pullout of U.S. combat troops from Iraq within 30 days of enactment.

7. It means I think that we are being lied to by "our"

Party. I don't believe that they have any intentions of withdrawing ALL US troops from Iraq. They may withdraw some troops, but it is a bait and switch type deal. I hope I am wrong, but I believe I am right. More and more right-wing Democrats are winning elections - and they are no more "our" friends than the Republicans are. The Party fooled me in '06, they will have to prove themselves this time...

It's a meaningless gesture, just like the promises made, then re-made, then re-re-made
as deadlines came and went with no significant Democratic action since the election and empty promises

Any deadline set needs to be on the Chimp's watch. This a ploy to give the public a date and a democratic president a nice steaming pile to try and clean up.
